"Actually disgusting." The gobsmacking comments Kim Kardashian made about her own weight.

Kim Kardashian has once again managed to infuriate fans by promoting an unhealthy message about weight and body image.

In a series of videos posted to her Instagram Stories on Monday, the 37-year-old and her sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner gushed about how “skinny” she looked.

While backstage ahead of a charity poker event, the sisters exchanged compliments and made downright flippant remarks about looking “anorexic” and not eating.

Kendall begins by jokingly saying to her sister, “No like I’m really concerned, I don’t think you’re eating.”

“What?! What?!” is Kim’s delighted reply. “Oh my god, thank you.”

In the next video the model says, “My purse is as tiny as you.” to which Kim replies: “Oh my god the compliments!”

Later, Khloe and a friend joke that Kim’s diet consisted of “celery, lettuce” and “different flavours of oxygen”.

“Kimberly, you’re literally, I can see through you,” says Khloe.

“Guys, I’m not that skinny,” Kim says, before divulging her weight in a disparaging way.

“I will say when I take out my hair extensions I am less.”

Khloe continues: “Your hair extensions, your ass, your tits, everything, they’re heavy, cause she’s f**king voluptuous. But she’s anorexic here [at her waist], her arms are like pin thin, they’re like my pinky.”

Fans shared their disbelief and frustration at the celebrity sisters’ disregard for their impressionable young fans and how they may interpret jokes about not eating and the delight in suggestions Kim has an eating disorder.

Others pointed out that eating disorders are not glamourous and should not be used as compliments, including those who had suffered with the illness themselves.

In case anyone else needs reminding, an eating disorder is a serious health issue.

As the Butterfly Foundation puts it on their website: “Eating disorders are not a lifestyle choice or a cry for attention. Eating disorders are serious mental illness that have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness.”

About one in 25 Australians experience an eating disorder, many of whom suffer from depression or anxiety. Suicide rates for anorexia are 32 times higher than the general population.
