Renovations fallout between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West 'behind rapper's breakdown': reports.

With Kanye West remaining in hospital over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, a report has emerged claiming home renovations were a trigger for his breakdown.

According to TMZ, the Life of Pablo rapper had been having a series of arguments with wife Kim Kardashian West over the ongoing renovations of their Hidden Hills home in California.

The couple purchased the mansion for a rumoured US$20 million (AU$26.8 million) in 2014, and have since spent nearly two years and a further US$8 million (AU$10.8 million) on renovations, something a source close to the family reportedly told TMZ Kardashian West was not happy about.

“During the final taping of [Khloe Kardashian’s] talk show in April, Kim was grousing that they had sunk $8 million into their Hidden Hills remodel and it was all her money.”

The reason for the drawn out and exorbitant renovations, the source continues, is apparently because “Kanye couldn’t make his mind up. He would order a change and when it was completed he’d take a look and tell contractors to rip it out and do it another way.”

The couple has been living in a rental home and staying with Kardashian West's mum Kris Jenner since beginning renovations - a topic which is often raised in episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. 

West was admitted to UCLA Medical Centre on Monday afternoon at approximately 1.20pm after “acting erratically” while at the home of his trainer, Harley Pasternak.

The 39-year-old is being treated for exhaustion and sleep deprivation, however his condition has been described as "way worse" than anticipated as his stay in hospital extends far longer than first expected.

Kardashian West, 36, was spotted visiting her husband in hospital on Thursday morning, but it is not yet known if the pair's children, three-year-old North 11-month-old son Saint have visited.

It's been an intense year for West, whose latest Yeezy collection was panned by fashion critics and fans just months before his wife was held at gunpoint and robbed inside their Paris apartment. Those two major events, in addition to becoming a parent for the second time in December, and touring his new album for the better part of this year, is likely to leave the best of us feeling frayed.

Whatever the reason, though, we're just glad you're taking some time and getting the help you need, Kanye.
