Jaime King writes an emotional essay, which suggests she's a sexual assault 'survivor'.

After Lady Gaga‘s strong performance at the Oscars yesterday, bringing the topic of sexual assault in to the media, Jaime King felt ready to pen an emotional post about being a ‘survivor’.

The mother-of-two posted a photo from when she was ‘about 14’ to instagram with a long essay thanking her husband, Kyle Newman, her children, Lena Dunham, Lady Gaga and an array of others for their support and empathy over the years.

King wrote “Thank you to the only people I have told…Thank you to @unwomen and all organisations that have tirelessly worked to somehow comfort and make right,” she wrote.

The 36-year-old also thanked herself writing, “Thank you to myself to not choosing to not make this a cover story though that was what was suggested to me but to express from my heart to you all personally, which felt the most honest way for me to speak. Thank you to my Soul, body, mind, emotions, my inner child, my younger self, I love you.”

After the strong performance by Lady Gaga at the Oscars, King felt it was a night of ‘celebration’ and ‘of change’.

King wrote, “Now I am free, somewhat. Thank you for the switch that went off inside finally when I realised my silence said I cannot help nor change and that is not who I am. I love you all very much for creating a safe space. The time is now. I was about 14 here, it started at 12.”

Lady Gaga sang, ‘Till It Happens To You’ at the Academy Awards last night. The 29-year-old is a sexual assault survivor and had other survivors on the stage with her.

King joins Kesha and Gaga who have been shedding light on the issue this year. We hope things continue to change.
