Is anyone else not sleeping? Anyone? ANYONE? I don’t seem to give birth to children who sleep very well. Some mutant non-sleeping gene. Latest cab off the rank in that department is Remy who is now almost six months. Operation Break-Mummy’s-Spirit is progressing nicely, thanks for asking.
Last week, he broke the two hour mark for waking / feeding throughout the night. We hit 90 minutes and I’m quietly confident we’ll crack a 40 minutes sleep/wake cycle within a fortnight.
When Remy was born, as soon as I came home from the hospital, I booked The Sleep Whisperer to come the day he is due to turn 6 months. That’s the earliest she does it because many believe it can be psychologically harmful to do controlled crying any younger.
Yes, yes, I know many people also believe it’s harmful at all ages and should never be done but to those people I would say COME AND LIVE INSIDE MY SLEEP DEPRIVED BRAIN FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND SEE WHAT KIND OF GOOD MOTHER YOU CAN BE WHEN YOU HAVEN’T HAD MORE THAN TWO HOURS OF CONSECUTIVE SLEEP IN SIX MONTHS.
Ahem. Looking forward to the magical Elizabeth The Sleep Whisperer coming to wave her magic wand over my life in a couple of weeks. When she gave Coco ‘The Gift Of Sleep’ (as she so beautifully calls it), it changed our whole family’s life dramatically. Mummy stopped being a grumpy monster. Coco was infinitely happier. Until then, it’s lucky Remy is so damn cute because I’m sleeeeeeeeeeeeepy.
And please don’t tell me to ‘just sleep in the day when he does!”. Firstly, he doesn’t sleep longer than 40 minutes in the day either. And secondly, I have things to do. Like look at frock pictures from the SAG awards.
