Zooey Deschanel has named her baby after a Sea otter. No, really.

Recently, the quirky star of New Girl got married and even more recently (and not-so-secretly) gave birth.

Zooey Deschanel has finally revealed the name of her bundle of joy and it’s suitably adorkable.

As it turns out, her three-month-old daughter is named Elsie. Elsie Otter.

Attending the ‘Rock the Kasbah’ premiere with hubby Jacob Pechenik on Wednesday, Deschanel revealed the name to a reporter from People. 

“It’s Elsie…” Deschanel began, “Otter,” Pechenik finished.

“Like the animal,” the actress elaborated, “Sea otter.”

The 35-year-old star who has the biggest, bluest eyes we’ve ever seen gave birth on Monday afternoon with her producer husband Jacob Pechenik by her side.

“I am thrilled to confirm that Zooey Deschanel and her husband Jacob Pechenik are new parents to a beautiful healthy baby girl,” the actress’ rep confirmed to ET.

This is their first child together, just months after they held a very private and intimate wedding ceremony in a top-secret location. The pregnancy was however, confirmed in January this year. So we knew it was happening.

Zooey was adamant she didn’t want to know the gender before the big day. “It’s more fun,” she said. “Make it into a game!”

A name for their new little bundle of joy (and a photo!) are yet to be seen, and considering we didn’t even know they were married until recently, we’re not holding our breath.

We hope the couple enjoy this (private) time together with their new little girl.
