This wonderful nugget of beauty wisdom comes courtesy of Mamamia’s beauty show, You Beauty. For this week’s In Her Bag, Leigh Campbell rummaged through Yumi Stynes’ beauty bag to find out which products she loves.

Yumi Stynes is a broadcaster, TV presenter and a mother of four, and she’s also an author. Her second book Zero Fucks Cooking Endless Summer is out now. She also presents a radio show for the KIIS network and hosts a podcast for the ABC.

Fact: Yumi Stynes has amazing skin.

It’s glowy and vibrant, and paired with a bold lip, the Japanese-Australian broadcaster’s energetic personality shines through.

But… how does a mum of four young kids have such great skin and not look… tired?

When Mamamia’s executive editor and beauty editor of 15 years Leigh Campbell rummaged through Yumi’s beauty bag, she noticed one particular brand popped up again and again.

That brand is Shiseido and in Japan, where Yumi’s mum is from, it’s the equivalent of our Nivea or Cetaphil. Everyone uses it.

Leif Wild Rosella Body Cleanser, $39.

Why she loves it:

"It's an Aussie brand. I love it when my hands smell clean but good... it was given to me as a gift and I didn't use it for ages because I felt like it was 'too good' to use... and then my son dropped it on the floor and I did that crazy thing where you get down on your hands and knees and scoop it up into a new bottle, that's when you know you love it."

Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion.

Why she loves them:

"I've been using the brand since I was a little girl, it's a Japanese skin care brand, it's massive there but it's not the most expensive brand there. My mum introduced me to it, of course, the products really suit Asian skin. I don't know if that's making some crazy generalisation but it feels good on my skin, and putting it on, it's that ritual of giving yourself some pampering. When I'm not using the Shiseido sunscreen, I use the Nivea Sun SPF 50+ Lotion ($9.39), the one in the blue bottle. It goes on really nicely, doesn't make you feel manky, has a nice smell and when you hop in the ocean, it doesn't wash off, great for daily use."

Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation in shade 160, $75.

Why she loves it:

"It's pretty dewy, but the best thing about it is if I rub my face or I sweat, it doesn't go patchy. It keeps covering me, but I do have to top up, I'll refresh the whole thing if I'm going out in the afternoon, but it layers beautifully. It leaves a bit of a wetness, it has a young yumminess to it, makes me feel juicy, light blush over the top sets it in place."

YSL Touche Éclat - Radiant Touch, $70.

Why she loves it:

"I like the pen applicator so I can be precise, I've got a freckle on my top lip that makes it look like I've got a moustache, it drives me crazy! I paint that out and blend it through, I'm hiding the fact I might actually have a moustache."

KIKIO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Nile Green, $12.50(ish).

Why she loves it:

"I'm going to sound like a wanker twat... but I bought it in Paris. It's not expensive, but it goes on really smoothly. The bright colour is a mad woman's colour - Shiseido do one too, it's called the Makeup Kajal Inkartist in 07 Sumi Skye ($38). What I find is it puts me in a good mood, I love being brave with colours because if you have an ethnic background, you can wear bold colours... I whack it on and wear it to the gym, and it stays on."

Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara, $38.

Why she loves it:

"I rarely wear it because I find mascara is the one thing that's really difficult to get right. I get itchy, my eyes get irritated, and then at the end of the day, it leaves a big panda marks. I'm the one that will do without mascara. My best friend is a makeup artist and it drives her nuts that I don't wear mascara, so she got me to try this one because it's low irritant. I'd recommend it to anyone with sensitive eyes."

L'Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream, $63.

Why she loves it:

"I don't mind that it's heavy, if you pop it on before bed it will get on your sheets though, so I use it when I'm going to be in the car or am going for a walk and know it'll have the chance to sink in. You know when you get dry elbows and your forearms feel flaky? It sinks in and nourishes that, and feels luxurious."

Yumi's Spendy: Tom Ford Beauty Lip Colour, $70.

Why she loves it:

"$70 is huge, it's a lot of money. There's a huge range of colours in this range but the finish on your lips is amazing. They give more than they take, and when I'm putting it on, it's got this really generous slide across your lips. This was a secret I was a bit reluctant to share because it's my go-to gift now, because it's tiny, fits in your pocket, and it's a good brand."

Yumi's Savey: Lady Speed Stick Antiperspirant Stick Deodorant Cool & Fresh, $4.50.

Why she loves it:

"I'm famous for having a really sensitive nose, people near and dear to me know to come over without perfume because it gives me a headache. I don't wear any fragrance, and I don't want the deodorant I wear to make a statement. I don't want to protrude into other people's space with my odour. This one does the job of stopping your stinky pits but it also doesn't have a nasty pong, doesn't smell heavily fragranced. It's a cream roll on in a purple stick."
