Yumi Stynes explains why she won't be appearing on Studio 10 this morning.

After a debate with fellow Studio Ten panellist Kerri-Anne Kennerley on Monday over the Australia Day protests, Yumi Stynes will not be back on the show today.

The Zero F***s Cookbook author explained in a post to Instagram why she wouldn’t be on the breakfast TV show as scheduled on Tuesday morning.

Yumi insisted it wasn’t because of the fiery debate she and Kerri-Anne had on Monday’s show, but rather because she “really urgently want(s) to lie around and do nothing”.

During a discussion about the protests, which took place on Saturday and pushed for the date of Australia Day to be changed, things became heated between the pair.

Kerri-Anne made her opinion on the protests and the protestors known.

“OK, the 5000 people who went through the streets making their points known, saying how inappropriate the day is,” she said.

“Has any single one of those people been out to the Outback, where children, babies, five-year-olds are being raped? Their mothers are being raped, their sisters are being raped. They get no education. What have you done?”

Yumi challenged the 65-year-old over her comments.

“That is not even faintly true, Kerri-Anne. You’re sounding quite racist right now,” the 43-year-old said.

Kerri-Anne said she was “offended” by the remarks.

“Well keep going then, because every time you open your mouth you’re sounding racist,” Yumi added.

“I am seriously offended by that, Yumi. SERIOUSLY offended,” Kerri-Anne said.

The debate concluded with Yumi suggesting Kerri-Anne had drawn a line between unrelated issues and Kerri-Anne saying she couldn't see any line.

Later that day, the 3PM Pick-Up radio host, who has been on Studio Ten multiple times, shared a photo of the ingredients and cooking tools she had ready to cook on the Channel Ten program the next morning.

"I was booked to come in to showcase a recipe from one of my cookbooks," she said.

"Instead, I decided to give myself the day off.

"This is not because of what happened today between Kerri-Anne and I. I am feeling stable and calm and like I’m on the right side of history. Everything is ok.

"I’m not coming in because I really urgently want to lie around and do nothing. It’s very important."

The mum-of-four said she didn't want to leave the show in the lurch and had asked her friend, TV presenter James Mathison, to fill in, but was unsure if the show's producer would follow up.

"I have no idea if she will take me up on the suggestion and it’s not my problem," she said.

After the on-screen argument ended between the pair on Monday's show, Kerri-Anne played down the intensity of the debate.

"This is just an issue that Yumi and I have," she said. "There are probably 20 other things that we do agree on — this is just one that we don’t."
