Every once in a while, I post a photo on my social media of the muffins I just baked or the freshly tidied up kids bedrooms.
Every once in a while, someone will comment asking exactly how I manage my work life balance. Two kids, a huge job, juggling everything that needs to be juggled while also knitting a scarf or baking a chocolate cake. Might sound like I’m a bit super human. Er, no.
I admit it. I like the picture I can project of my life on social media. It’s neat and tidy. It’s well styled.
The kids are happy and the kitchen smells like cinnamon (from the baking).
Okay. Truth time.
This is what my son’s bedroom usually looks like.
Attractive, isn't it?
The kitchen is usually a mess. I might have baked muffins, but I guarantee 24 hours later you find the dishes in the sink waiting to be washed up.
Need some styling tips for the kids' bedrooms? This will help. Post continues after video...
The Cotton On Kids room range is available here.
Things like vacuuming and wiping down the bathroom sink happen before guests arrive, because I like to keep up appearances. But make no mistake, the closed doors you walk past on your way to the loo are hiding all manner of housekeeping sins.
As for the laundry, well, I'm not a big one for ironing, or even folding it up to put it away. This is what you will find in my bedroom right now. There would be about six weeks worth of washing buried under there.
So. There's reality, in all it's gory detail.
One day, though, eventually, I'm determined that life will be a bit closer to what it looks like on social media. The dishes will be done. The laundry might even be ironed, as well as folded neatly and put away.
As for the kids bedrooms, well, I would love them to look fun and stylish as well as neat and tidy... one day.
Can you relate?
