I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here has made a positive change this year.

There have been two seasons of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here featuring an Australian cast and women have never placed better than third.

Laura Brodnik and Tiffany Dunk explain why I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is so different this year.

This year, it seems like the production team have attempted to address this by giving greater screen time to female narratives.

The gender switch could be due to the lack of Shane “Warney” Warne or it could be due to how the female cast is stacked with big personality talent.

The Binge hosts discussed how excited they were to see the story lines of female talent like Malkah and Casey Donovan play out.

Laura began with how Malkah’s recent media coverage now makes sense in light of this new role.

“Everything she’s done since we’ve learnt about her new name and who she is – so the former Kate Fischer…. it’s like a puzzle, it all makes sense, all of a sudden,” she said.

Malkah has been in the spotlight since the 1990s when her former relationship with billionaire James Packer thrust her into the headlines. The socialite has maintained this public persona with a variety of stories such as her withdrawal from the Church of Scientology.

Laura also discussed how Donovan was already entertaining audiences with the drama of her recent past.

“So many things have happened to her, with her career sort of back steps and the cat fishing and her love story and her sex addiction and the fact that she’s an Uber driver,” she said.

“All I want to do is listen to her talk, I don’t care if she eats a bug.”

Whether this female-focus continues into the later episodes is yet to be seen but we’re off to a positive start.
