It sounds like the bad plot of a movie, but we swear it’s true.
In 2008, a woman named Naomi Jacobs went to sleep as a 32-year-old and woke up as a 15-year-old. Seriously.
Jacobs, who lives in England, woke up thinking she was back in 1992. Her last memory was falling asleep in her bunk bed with her sister.
If you’ve ever seen Suddenly 30, that ridiculous teen movie where Jennifer Garner’s 13-year-old counterpart wishes to be 30 and when she wakes up it happens, this story is basically the real-life version.
As it turns out, Jacobs wasn’t trying to reunite with her youth. She was suffering from a very strange form of amnesia brought on by stress, where she could remember some things, like the pin to her bank account, but not others, like what the hell an iPhone is.
Related: She can’t remember her kids or her wedding. And she’s okay with that.
In an interview with BBC, Jacobs explained what happened when she woke up in her 32-year-old body.
“I thought I was still dreaming until I saw my face in the mirror,” she said.
Jacobs took 24 hours to get over the shock, she said. But she wasn’t used to things like 21st century technology.
“The last time I saw a mobile phone it was the size of a house brick. Digital television looked cartoon-ish to me. Barcode scanning, CCTV… everything looked so alien to me. The only point of reference I had was from science fiction films,” Jacobs said.
Jacobs spent six weeks as a 15-year-old trapped in the body of a 30-year-old before her memory came back.
But there’s no word on whether she reignited the flame with her 15-year-old lover like Jennifer Garner did.

She’s written a book, called Forgotten Girl, that will be released this month.
