Woman arrested, another allegedly stabbed in the neck over Facebook post.

A woman is in the Royal Hobart Hospital with a stab wound to her neck and another has been arrested over an alleged stabbing sparked by a Facebook post.

It is understood the 26-year-old victim knew her alleged attacker, who arrived with a male accomplice at the victim’s home in Wendel Court at West Moonah around 11:00am.

Tasmania Police Sergeant David Gill said victim was stabbed three times, including in the neck, over what was believed to be an inflammatory post she wrote earlier today.

“This is not a random attack, it appears there has been some sort of feud between the two that resulted in an altercation here this morning and the female sustaining those stab wounds,” he said.

“The details in relation to the actual feud are quite sketchy, but we believe it started early this morning with an innocuous Facebook post.

“This is quite a vicious attack, she is obviously suffering shock right now, no doubt there will be mental scars as well as physical a time to come.”

Sergeant Gill said the woman’s injuries were non-life threatening.

“[She has] three separate injuries, one to her neck, defensive wounds to her hands and one to her leg,” he said.

“At this stage there is no indication that drugs or alcohol are a factor in relation to the offence.”

Police arrested a woman in her car in the nearby suburb of Montrose just before 1:00pm after putting out road spikes.

She is due to face court later today.
