An Iranian hairdresser whose body was found in Sydney’s inner-city this morning was murdered by her partner, police will allege.
Authorities visited a unit block on St Neot Avenue at Potts Point at 6.10am after receiving an overseas call from the victim’s father who had concerns for her welfare.
Police said they forced their way into the home and found the 35-year-old woman’s body, which had numerous wounds.
Superintendent Michael Fitzgerald said the victim’s 41-year-old partner was the only suspect in the incident.
“We expect to lay charges today for the murder of that victim,” he said.
A neighbour said she heard screams in the home just before 5pm on Wednesday, but Superintendent Fitzgerald said authorities did not receive any information until today.
“Unfortunately, no reports were made to police until the father rang us,” he said.
“We have received information that he had a phone call with his son-in-law where it is alleged the son-in-law told him certain things.
“What we would ask in future [is] if anyone hears anything suspicious at all please contact police because it could be a matter of life and death.”
