'I just watched season 2 of Meghan Markle's Netflix show and these are my honest thoughts.'

The second season of With Love, Meghan has dropped on Netflix, and it's serving up another helping of whimsical, luxurious lifestyle content that's very, well… Meghan Markle.

Here's the thing: if you were a hater and were hoping she would change it up after the mixed reviews from season one, you're out of luck. Both seasons were filmed back-to-back, so there was no opportunity for course correction based on feedback. What you get is more of the same — and honestly, I'm surprised that anyone's surprised by this.

The format hasn't changed: celebrity guests visit her pretend house (let's be honest, very few cooking shows are filmed in actual kitchens), they make elevated versions of simple foods, along with some crafty activities, and everyone has a good time. This season has some interesting visitors, including Chrissy Teigen, celebrity chef, David Chang and Queer Eye icon, Tan France.

And this show is luxury lifestyle television at its most elevated. We're talking about a woman who puts decorative flower petals on her bubble tea (the way I burst out laughing because the Asian in me could never), pronounces "ricotta" with a full Italian accent, and casually suggests adding flavours like lavender honey to graham crackers and vanilla turmeric to marshmallows when making s'mores.

Look, I'm very basic. Am I supposed to have this stuff in my kitchen? It's all very elevated and, frankly, that's what makes it kind of intriguing.

Here's where I think people are getting it wrong: if you're watching this expecting relatability or useful lifestyle tips, you're watching the wrong show entirely. This isn't meant to be your everyday cooking programme — it's one of your Pinterest boards come to life. And that's okay.

The standout episode features Chrissy Teigen, and it's fascinating to watch the dynamic between these two seemingly very different women.

Chrissy feels more like us, the viewer (I know she's not — she's a very rich and successful celebrity), but the contrast is stark. Where Meghan maintains her perfectly polished image, Chrissy brings a refreshing dose of chaos — including forgetting her children's birthdays. So real.

Their shared past on Deal or No Deal provides one of the more genuine moments between friends, offering a glimpse behind the scenes, when, in the public's eyes, Meghan lived what seems like an entirely different life.

Meghan remains very guarded — just like last time — undoubtedly because of the intense scrutiny she is under at all times when it comes to the media. The show, again, includes shots of the crew to make her seem more grounded, but ultimately she's still a woman who is treading very carefully.

Despite all this, the show is kind of light and silly — if you approach it with the right expectations. While I wouldn't typically watch a show like this, I did actually learn a few things while watching, including how to make s'mores (minus the sophisticated flavour profiles, because I'm, well… a normie).

If you hated the first season, I doubt this will change your mind.

But if you're in the mood for some aesthetic shots of gorgeous homewares, completely unattainable lifestyle porn with a side of unintentional comedy, pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy the ride.

After all, sometimes we all need a bit of perfectly curated escapism — even if it's completely divorced from reality.
