Simone built a brand around being obsessed with Timothée Chalamet. This is why she'll never be able to stop.

Timothée Chalamet has had a hectic few years as he's continued to ascend to one of the busiest boys in Hollywood.

He is currently on the cusp of landing his first Oscar. Don't believe me? Ask his biggest fan.

Club Chalamet is a mysterious, dedicated fan account for the American actor. The account rose to viral internet fame due to several bizarre statements made by Club Chalamet (or 'Miss Club' as she's affectionately known), which sparked wider online discussions about parasocial relationships and the nature of Stan Twitter.

So who is this enigmatic online presence who has dedicated her life to championing a 29-year-old actor?

She is actually a 59-year-old woman, who works in the healthcare industry when she isn't surveilling the young actor's every move.

And now, she just given a (rather odd) interview to the Wall Street Journal.

Now boasting 49,000 followers on X and almost 14,000 followers on Instagram, Simone Cromer created Club Chalamet in 2018 following two viewings of Call Me by Your Name, which… yeah, I get it, sis.

After an awkward encounter with a young Chalamet fan, Cromer wanted to create a space for older fans of the actor.

That all sounds wholesome, but a lot of Club Chalamet's content is rather unhinged. She is especially known for her deranged rants about Chalamet's dating life. In particular, she has suggested several times that his two-year relationship with Kylie Jenner is fake.

To this day, Club Chalamet doesn't mention Kylie's name in her posts, instead referring to her as "a guest", "that person", or more offensive descriptors like "slurpee" or "stalker."

For this reason, she is something of an outlier in the fandom community, with several of Chalamet's longest stans refusing to comment for the Wall Street Journal story.

"I didn't anticipate, expect or want this kind of attention," Cromer said. "I'm just a fan at the end of the day."

But that's not exactly the truth, Simone.

Club Chalamet is known for its antics. One of the most memorable incidents occurred in 2023 when Cromer hosted a 52-minute Twitter Spaces session to claim Chalamet was being blackmailed into his relationship with Jenner.

In the same incident, she tried to prove her theory by raising supicions over why the couple had not been seen visiting Olive Garden (a popular Italian food restaurant chain), despite Chalamet allegedly being mad for Italian cuisine.

The whole Olive Garden saga quickly became an internet meme.

In response to critics saying she is a 'stalker', Cromer denied any wrongdoing. "I'm not ashamed of my fan activity," she said in her interview with WSJ.

"I'm not a stalker. I'm not weird."

Instead, she insisted that she views Chalamet more as a 'nephew', and that none of her fangurling came with sinister intentions.

"I can't change the fact that I was born in 1966," Cromer said. "I don't want to be a 24-year-old white girl running Club Chalamet. I am who I am."

So what exactly is the endgame here and when will Club Chalamet close its doors? Cromer says her main goal is to help Chalamet win an Oscar.

"He's the real deal," she said, comparing his talents to Tom Cruise and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Ahead of Timmy fronting another Oscars campaign for ping pong biopic, Marty Supreme, Club Chalamet penned a manifesto on Substack to implore the Academy to give the actor his first Oscar after missing out last year for his role in A Complete Unknown.

"There are several things that must not be repeated from the last awards cycle in order to appeal to the voters for Marty Supreme!" she wrote.

One of these things is for him to 'dress to impress' the Academy.

"Timothee will turn 30 as Marty Supreme opens on Christmas Day, and he will need to dress like a 30-year-old man when he is out there promoting his film, interviewing with the mainstream media, and wear tailored suits to exclusive events," she continued.

"He must avoid dressing up in colourful college-age guy hip-hop outfits… they will not take him seriously."

She couldn't help but take a final shot at Miss Jenner. "Timothee has had a guest with him for the past awards seasons who did not complement his attendance at these high-profile events. You're judged by the company you keep," she decried.

More recently, Club Chalamet has increasingly sought to monotise her content. On Substack, she charges her subscribers $6 a month, $65 a year or $150 for a premium annual subscription. She didn't confirm her exact earnings but told WSJ she's made enough to cover the cost of a trip to Italy.

Club Chalamet previously attempted to sell merch on Zazzle, but the online store told her she needed written permission from Chalamet's representatives. In response, she closed the store.

But one thing is for sure, whether Timothée gets his Oscar or not, Club Chalamet will be watching — and sharing her every waking thought about him.
