Demi Engemann met her husband when she was 9. He was 25.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has returned for a second communion and a new villain has stepped forward: Demi Engemann.

Thanks to her unapologetic personality and bold opinions, Demi made a huge impact on the latest season that just dropped on Disney+.

While she was a (self-described) 'fan favourite' in Season 1, Demi faced a lot more scrutiny in Season 2, which continued to follow the lives of a bunch of TikTok-famous Mormon women living in Utah.

In particular, her feud with (actual fan favourite) Taylor Frankie Paul over the future of MomTok (will it survive??) and arguments over money became central storylines.

In one episode, Demi was accused of being greedy for considering pushing her best friend, Jessi Ngatikaura, off the show for a better pay deal.

She defended her right to ask for more money. "It's not a shock that I was a fan favourite," she told the women. "I feel like I'm an asset. I should fight for more."

On top of the Jessi drama, she faced persistent rumours about her marriage after being romantically linked to Vanderpump Villa's Marciano Brunette — a claim she flatly denied.

Who is Demi from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?

Demi, 30, first made waves as part of the influencer collective 'MomTok', known for their candid takes on modern Mormon motherhood.

She is one of the most-followed members with 1.1 million followers on TikTok and 560,000 on Instagram.

Her journey on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives began in Season 1, where she became popular for taking on the controversial series villain, Whitney Leavitt.

But then, in Season 2, she truly became a lightning rod for drama, earning both fans and critics alike.

Before her reality TV debut on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Demi was primarily known as a social media influencer on MomTok, where she shared a more progressive view of Mormonism.

In her early 20s, Demi was married to Blake Corbin, with whom she shares a 7-year-old daughter named Maude.

Who is Demi's husband?

Demi's husband, Bret Engemann, 46, is no stranger to the spotlight. A former NFL quarterback and contestant on The Bachelorette, Bret was previously married to Angie Harrington, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.

Interestingly, Demi herself was once interviewed to join the RHOSLC but did not make the cast.

Demi and Bret's relationship raised eyebrows due to their 16-year age gap and the fact that they first met through family friends when Demi was 9 and Bret was 25.

They didn't reconnect romantically until years later, after they both had ended previous marriages.

The couple started dating in 2020 and were married in April 2021, just days after getting engaged.

Demi and Bret found themselves at the centre of swirling cheating allegations during Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The speculation began after Demi's trip to Italy to film Vanderpump Villa, where rumours arose around her relationship with Marciano Brunette.

Bret also faced his own set of cheating allegations, with a blind item suggesting he had cheated while Demi was away. On the show, Demi questioned Bret's "overexplaining" and noted, "If I were guilty, I would be acting this way."

In an awkward hot-mic moment, Bret insisted, "You must know deep down that I would never betray you. It frustrates me. I want to discover who spread the rumours. It angers me. You know I didn't do that."

Despite the intense scrutiny and speculation, Demi and Bret have presented as a united front on social media.

Will Demi return to MomTok and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives?

Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger over not just the future of MomTok (the horror!) but whether Demi will be involved in the group.

In a recent interview, Demi spoke about 'outgrowing' some friendships but hasn't suggested she's leaving the show.

"I think I've come to terms and I'm at peace knowing that some friendships are put into your life for a mere moment. It doesn't need to be a lasting connection, it doesn't need to be a lasting friendship, and that's okay," she told People.

"You change and evolve at different rates and in different ways, and you want different things and have a different path, and you can honor that from afar or up close. You outgrow people, and that's okay. Personally, I am just staying in my own lane, focusing on my mental health, my peace."

But clearly, there's no love lost between former besties, Demi and Jessi, who have since unfollowed each other on social media.

Love her or loathe her, Demi Engemann is almost certain to keep viewers talking — and tuning in — when Secret Lives of Mormon Wives likely returns for more chaotic fun.
