Mike White just addressed The White Lotus' biggest plot hole.

It's been two tragic months since we had The White Lotus to watch on a Monday night, and you know what? I'm not about it.

The sensational third season of Mike White's iconic HBO series brought back a bunch of wealthy guests staying at a glamorous hotel in Thailand.

This season gave us so much: waspy women fighting over petty grievances, stressed-out men shouting into cellphones, and most importantly, Parker Posey's Victoria Ratliff, the ultimate Southern diva.

The big finale tied up a lot of loose ends, but there remains one major plot hole that was never filled.

There was an early encounter between Leslie Bibb's character, Kate, and Victoria that left a lot of viewers confused.

In episode 2, Kate approaches Victoria at breakfast, reminding her they had met years earlier at a baby shower in Austin, Texas.

Victoria responds coldly and dismissively, acting as if she does not remember Kate or the event at all.

The conversation is awkward, with Victoria making it clear she has no interest in continuing the interaction, leaving Kate feeling snubbed and rejected.

Watch the awkward moment below. Post continues after the video.

The moment is loaded with tension and feels like it's setting up a subplot or foreshadowing some secret history the women share.

Many theorised the scene would tie into the season's central mysteries, such as the Ratliff family's financial troubles or Timothy's ongoing FBI investigation.

However, the show awkwardly never addresses it again.

So umm… what was all that about, hey?

Well, wonder no more because we've got the answer from the horse's mouth and that horse is Mike White. The writer's School of Rock co-star Sarah Silverman admitted she asked him outright what that scene was about.

"I loathe doing that because I feel like everyone must be asking him, but I did," she said on Live with Kelly and Mark.

"I did text him out of this one, I emailed him and I said, 'What's up with Leslie Bibb — how come we didn't find out why Parker Posey iced Leslie Bibb?'"

His answer? It's not that deep. "He goes, 'No, I was just showing that she's a bitch'," she recalled.

This lines up with what The White Lotus actor and Posey's co-star, Jason Isaacs, had previously said about Victoria's weird reaction. "She has a perfectly good idea [of who Kate is]," he told the I've Never Said This Before podcast. "She doesn't want to be on holiday talking to strangers."

Isaacs went on to explain that a line was cut that might have explained the scene further. "There was a lovely line that was cut, which bothered me, but we all had many, many lines cut because Mike writes so much fabulous stuff there's half an hour cut from every episode," Isaacs said.

"But when we landed in the beginning… [they] said, you know, 'How's your journey?' And I said, 'We had a long layover.'

"And I think I said something like, if I'm remembering correctly, 'Flew commercial. Save the planet.' Because [the Ratliffs] don't normally fly commercial, they fly private and they go to mansions with staff. So he's kind of slumming it, staying at the White Lotus at all."

"They're not used to other people being in their business," Isaacs continued.

He said the scene was simply to illustrate that Victoria doesn't want to be mingling with people she deems inferior to her.

"The fact that somebody from another table comes and gets in Victoria's face, she just doesn't want to be chatting to people by the pool. She doesn't want other people to be around."

"That's all it was. Just, 'I don't want these trashy people being in my life. I don't really want other people to talk to.'"

With all this in mind, the encounter was clearly designed to quickly outline both characters: Victoria as aloof, old money, and socially elitist; Kate as eager to climb the social ladder and desperate for validation from the top tier of society.

Until Season 4 comes around, case closed!
