Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the Week

Welcome to Mamamia Rogue’s Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the Week.

Here’s how it works: Each week, we pick the biggest Shocker, Hero and Whinger from the last seven days. Shocker is whatever moment or person left our jaws on the floor. Hero is whoever won the week by being flat out amazing.  And whinger? Well, that’s pretty much just someone who has had a major sooky-la-la moment.

Without further ado, let’s get started on the week that was.

Shocker of the week goes to…

An innocent man was sunbathing on the beach, probably having the most relaxing time of his life when this happened:

Hero of the week goes to…

The high-school kids who raised money to send their janitor to Italy so he could meet his new grandchild.

Nice things to happen in the world sometimes, and it’s even more awesome when it’s a bunch of teenagers doing something amazing, rather than living up to their self-absorbed stereotype. Upon learning that janitor Ricky Spaulding hadn’t seen his son (who is stationed in Italy) for more than a year, and consequently hadn’t met his new grandson, the students and faculty at Anderson County High School in Kentucky saved up $1900 to help send Ricky and his wife on their way to Italy.

Collective ‘Awwwwwwwwww’ everyone.

Whinger of the week goes to…

Dana Brunetti, Hollywood producer and apparent fat-shamer. See, Dana was wearing his cranky pants on his Delta flight recently, and sent out this charming tweet:

Hey @DanaBrunetti, if you’re going to be a twat, don’t put it on Twitter.

Get a grip.
