Rhi and Jeff dated before MAFS. They told us why it worked the second time.

Often dubbed the 'boring' couple on the 2025 season of Married at First Sight, Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels have proven that slow and steady does, in fact, win the MAFS race.

Despite every single couple matched in last year's experiment quickly crashing and burning, Rhi and Jeff remain the only success story from season 12 (well, besides the couple-swapping Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice, but that's a whole different story).

Account manager Rhi and electrician Jeff delivered a Married At First Sight first when they locked eyes at the altar. The slight problem? They had already totally dated back in 2023.

Despite this awkward first encounter, the couple proved to be the most normal, drama-free pairing in the whole experiment. By the end of their season, they had dropped the L-bomb, Jeff presented Rhiannon with his house key and they breezed through final vows, still smitten with each other.

And yep, they have successfully navigated the transition to the real world — they're still going strong to this day!

Where are Married at First Sight's Rhi and Jeff: Are they still together?

In an exclusive chat with Mamamia, Rhi told us how the couple has gone working through their first relationship milestone: moving in together in Melbourne.

"We moved in together not long after filming wrapped. It's actually gone better than I expected. It's shown me how compatible we are in the day-to-day stuff, which I think matters more than the big romantic gestures," she said.

Since then, the couple has been adapting to life as a 'real' couple outside the experiment.

"Life feels really grounded at the moment. Jeff and I have settled into a normal routine away from the chaos of the experiment and honestly, that's been the biggest update," Rhi told Mamamia.

"We're focused on building a life together, working hard, training, spending time with family and just enjoying being a real couple without cameras around."

The biggest challenge the couple has faced is learning to silence the 'outside noise' around them. "Opinions, assumptions, commentary — it can creep in if you let it. We've had to learn how to really protect our relationship, communicate openly and not let external pressure dictate how we feel or act," Rhi admitted.

Rhi offered the couple's secrets to a lasting MAFS relationship. "Choosing each other every day when the cameras are gone. Real communication, accountability and remembering that you're on the same team," she said.

"It's about effort and respect — not perfection."

Rhi and Jeff had dated before they reconnected on MAFS, which Rhi thinks was both an advantage and a disadvantage. "It gave us a deeper understanding of each other, which helped in moments where things felt intense," she reflected.

"But it also came with old history and expectations. We had to consciously choose to see each other as who we are now, not who we were back then."

Rhi doesn't believe she would have found her way back to Jeff without the MAFS experts intervening. "Our lives were moving in different directions. MAFS created the space and the timing for us to really look at each other again and decide if we wanted to try properly."

Regarding their next move in their relationship, they are slowly "just continuing to build" on the foundation they've laid. "[We are] creating a home, supporting each other's goals and seeing where life takes us. We're not in a rush, we're just enjoying being aligned and happy."

As for the incoming brides and grooms being matched in the 2026 experiment, Rhi has some advice for the MAFS contestants.

"Go in with an open heart but strong boundaries. Be honest with yourself, not just the experiment," she said.
