From Neighbours to an Emmy-nominated drama: Here's where Dichen Lachman is now.

Many of us know and love Dichen Lachman as Ms. Casey on Severance. But if you cast your mind back, you may also remember her from way back when she was causing drama on Ramsay Street as Katya Kinski on Neighbours.

From Adelaide to Apple TV+, the Aussie actress has carved out an impressive career spanning two decades.

Here's what she's up to today.

Dichen Lachman's early career.

Dichen Lachman's journey began in the most Australian way possible — on the set of Neighbours.

Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, to a Tibetan mother and Australian father, Lachman moved to Adelaide at as a child. After dropping out of university, she took up acting and landed her breakthrough role as Katya Kinski on the beloved Aussie soap opera.

Here's what makes her Neighbours story even better: she originally auditioned for the character of Elle Robinson, a role which eventually went to Pippa Black. Still, the producers were so impressed with Lachman's audition that they created the role of Katya specifically for her — talk about making an impression.

The role gave Lachman invaluable experience, appearing in 103 episodes over two years between 2005 and 2007. Like so many Aussie-born stars, it was the perfect training ground for everything to come.

Dichen Lachman's move to Hollywood.

After wrapping Neighbours in 2007, Lachman made the bold decision that countless Australian actors dream about — she packed up and moved to Los Angeles. Her timing, as it turned out, couldn't have been better.

In 2008, she landed what would become a career-defining role as Sierra in Joss Whedon's science fiction series Dollhouse. Playing a "doll" who could be programmed with different personalities, Lachman showcased her incredible range and ability to embody multiple characters within a single role.

The series ran for two seasons and established her as a formidable talent in the sci-fi genre — not to mention, earning her a devoted fan base in the process.

From there, her Hollywood career gained serious momentum. She secured roles in Being Human (2012), the military drama Last Resort (2012-2013), and made memorable appearances in The 100 as the fierce Grounder leader Anya.

Where is Dichen Lachman now?

Today, Dichen Lachman is experiencing what might just be the most successful period of her career. She's currently starring as Ms. Casey, the enigmatic wellness counsellor, in Apple TV+'s critically acclaimed thriller Severance.

The show, which premiered in 2022, has become a cultural phenomenon and earned Lachman widespread praise for her haunting performance. Severance season 2 returned to screens in 2025. If you haven't watched it yet, you're missing out.

But Severance isn't her only current project. Lachman has also been keeping busy in the film world, recently appearing in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) and continuing her role as the villainous Soyona Santos in the Jurassic World franchise. She even voiced the character in the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.

The Australian actress has also shown her entrepreneurial spirit, having co-produced the film Lust for Love (2014), which she helped fund through Kickstarter. It's a perfect example of her commitment to creating opportunities rather than just waiting for them to come knocking — a mindset that's clearly served her well.

Away from the cameras, Dichen Lachman has built a life with her husband, actor Maximilian Osinski. The couple first met in California in 2008 — right around the time Lachman was making her mark in Hollywood.

They tied the knot in January 2015, and just a few months later in May 2015, welcomed their daughter into the world.

At 43, Dichen Lachman represents the ultimate success story of an Australian actor who didn't just survive the transition to Hollywood — she absolutely thrived.

Not bad for a girl from Adelaide who started out on Neighbours.
