Secrets of a first class flight attendant.

Ever wonder what's on the other side of that first-class curtain but don't have the bank account to find out? Same. So, I decided to ask a first-class flight attendant for all the insider secrets.

Enter Ross, a jet-setting insider who has worked for Emirates in their International Business Class and assisted in First Class. He has also worked for Qantaslink as a cabin manager, crew trainer and base manager.

From indulgent demands to heartwarming gestures, here's what goes down in the land of fully reclining seats and bottomless champagne.

To start with, first class isn't even the highest tier when it comes to flying. As it turns out, Emirates has a secret ✨ highly exclusive ✨ Invitation Only (IO) club.

"This is a level of membership that is well and truly above any frequent flyer status," said Ross. "There are approximately 300 members who are individually invited by Sir Tim Clarke [Emirates President] to be part of, and are granted a number of privileges, which I won't go into here."

Hey Sir Tim! I'm really cool and funny and a respectful flyer! I'd be a great addition to your secret club. I promise I won't share any of your secrets — though this article isn't doing me any favours.

Alas, I doubt I'll be getting into the club. It's reserved for VIPs, after all. Which leads me to my next question: how do high-profile passengers maintain their privacy?

I doubt Chris Hemsworth wants his fellow passengers tweeting his destination out for the world to see, or demanding a selfie in between meals.

Well, according to Ross, airlines have a "very strict boarding policy" for first-class passengers to maintain discretion.

"Oftentimes, and dependent on the airport set-up, they board out of sight of any other passenger," he said. "Usually directly into the first-class cabin from the first-class lounge."

OK, but once they're on board, what goes on? Are there a bunch of heavily-Rolexed men clicking their fingers with a new demand every few minutes? Not quite.

"Upon greeting passengers in this cabin, we will usually ask if they want to be disturbed or left alone," said Ross. "First-class passengers on the whole fly so often, and all they want is to keep to themselves with minimal disturbance."

In fact, any requests would most likely be communicated to the crew ahead of time.

"Whilst first-class expectations can be high, [passengers] have seen it all before and most times use the time in the air to rest and do their own thing," added Ross.

The former cabin manager even claimed that demands are more likely to come from different areas of the plane.

"Business class passengers tend to try to get the most out of their flights; requesting additional meals, amenity kits, and [sometimes have] a lack of patience," he said.

"And, more times than not, it's the passengers who have received an upgrade from Economy. They are by far the most demanding class of passenger onboard."

Interesting, but I want to know the juicy stories. Who's been a real diva?

"We once had a very well-known passenger fly first-class who was on a very strict diet — green foods only," shared Ross.

OK, now we're talking.

"We didn't have many 'green' options catered for onboard, so the flight ended up being delayed by about 45 minutes while catering drove all over Dubai looking for more green options.

"Another very high-profile passenger was the only passenger I've ever seen bring their pet dog onboard first-class, other than guide dogs. The dog was listed as their 'therapy dog,'" added Ross.

Of course, there are heartwarming stories too.

"We once had a first-class passenger who was one of the loveliest people I've had the pleasure of meeting," he said. "They were so personable, approachable and purchased the entire duty-free catalogue onboard as a gift to all of our crew.

"At the end of the flight, the duty-free items were distributed amongst our crew: watches, fragrances, and more."

Take that, green food passenger!

Guys, if I ever make it into first class I will share every juicy detail with you all. Unless Sir Tim is reading this; I definitely won't do that!
