Disney kids, gather. Hilary Duff has made an eyebrow-raising comment about 'family drama' that many speculate is about her fractured relationship with her sister, Haylie.

ICYMI: For years, there have been rumours of a rift between Hilary, 38, and her sister Haylie, 40.

But let's go back for a quick sec. Hilary and Haylie Duff were red carpet royalty in the '00s.

Of course, Hilary broke into the industry with her starring role in Disney's Lizzie McGuire, but she was always happy to share the spotlight with her big sister.

They starred in the 2006 movie Material Girls together (plus released the obligatory Madonna cover 'Material Girl'), they did an iconic The Go-Go's cover of 'Our Lips Are Sealed' (it's still a bop!), and in case you didn't realise, Haylie provided the 'What Dreams Are Made Of' vocals for Isabella Parigi in The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Huge, I know.

Haylie also made multiple guest appearances on Hilary's show Lizzie McGuire.

Fast-forward to today and the sisters have not been photographed together in public in over five years. The last known public photo of sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff together was in March 2019 when they were spotted shopping in Los Angeles.

For a pair of sisters who once frequented red carpet events as a reliable duo, their fans couldn't help but notice the stark shift.

Then there's the lack of any social media interaction or birthday posts between them for several years — the sisters no longer even like each other's posts.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone to promote her comeback single 'Mature', Duff made a rare comment on the "family drama" she's faced in her older years.

Hilary admitted she finally feels "ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now."

She went on to say her new music explores "complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood, or family drama," she continued.

"Finally, I felt safe enough and comfortable in my own family to step outside and open that part of myself up again."

Vague! But interesting stuff!

So why the potential beef? Some have theorised that the sisters have opposing political views, with some believing Haylie is increasingly leaning more conservative since she relocated her family to Texas while Hilary is liberal.

Some other theories suggest that Hilary's husband, Matthew Koma, allegedly does not get along with Haylie or her fiancé, Matthew Rosenberg.

On Reddit and TikTok, fans have long been circulating their own theories about the cause of the sisterly rift.

A source told Deuxmoi that the feud was not related to the sisters' political leanings, but more to do with Haylie's opinion of Hilary's husband, Koma.

In the past, when they were on better terms, Hailey shared some choice words about their bond.

"It's funny people ask us all of the time about giving each other advice," Haylie told Fox News in 2018.

"We always tend to say kind of the same thing: You get advice from everyone, so sometimes from your sister, you don't want the advice."

She went on to suggest they had different parenting styles: Haylie has two daughters and Hilary has four children.

"It's funny everybody is going to have a little bit of different point of views when it comes to parenting," she said.

"I think just trying to not be judgemental of each other is the best thing you can do as a mum and as a sister."

In an older interview,Haylie shed light on how hard it was being 'pitted' against her sister.

"It's unfortunate that so many times you're pitted against your sibling being in the same business. I just think that's a tragedy," she said in 2012.

Neither Haylie nor Hilary has ever publicly confirmed or denied their rumoured feud.

So, until Hilary drops her next single, stay tuned!
