We bet you can't top these insane pregnancy cravings.

And no judgement, but there are some very weird cravings out there…

Read any pregnancy book or magazine and you’ll be inundated with information about how eating a healthy diet is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your baby.

Which is all fine and good, but what if all you can stomach is hot chip sandwiches or ice cream for breakfast?

Step one: stop feeling guilty. Talk to any pregnant or formerly pregnant woman and they’ll confess pregnancy was the one time their healthy diet went completely to shit.

The food they couldn’t get enough of is the type of junk they’d never touch while not growing a human: fairy bread, salt and vinegar chips, litres of orange juice, chocolate-glazed donuts. Regardless whether food cravings are psychological or not, THE BABY WANTED TO EAT THREE DONUTS, OK?

For me, both pregnancies (I’m currently six months up duff) have been the unhealthiest I’ve ever been. I’ve been hitting the McDonalds drive thru like it’s just been invented. And I couldn’t stop eating popcorn dipped in ice cream at the movies last night. Like, I really couldn’t stop. I think my husband was secretly horrified, but sensibly refrained from commenting on my power chowing session.

Since I figured I wasn’t the only one pummeling buttery popcorn coated in vanilla ice cream in my face, I asked some friends and colleagues for their pregnancy food confessions. The answers are hilarious. Add your own in the comments below, go on this is a safe place.

“While I was pregnant with my daughter, I ate a pink donut person every single day. Seriously, every day it was essential. And my daughter was 10 days overdue. That’s roughly 287 pink donut people consumed. Delicious.” - Bel.

“Salt and vinegar chips, at least a packet a day. At least. And I can’t stand chips.” - Shauna.

“I’m so embarrassed…but…Yogo, jelly, cucumber sandwiches (white bread, crusts off), oranges, shortbread, strawberry Paddle-pops, Twisties, anything with melted cheese and McDonald’s Cheeseburgers!” - Lisa.

“Pregnancy #1: smoked salmon. Twice a day every day for 9 months. Somehow I missed the bit where you weren’t meant to eat it while pregnant.

Pregnancy #2: grape Hubba Bubba bubble gum (by the packet) and I would have to have a little pile of sea salt next to my computer which I would nibble through the day.

Pregnancy #3: rice crackers. I would eat a packet a day. With peanut butter. Something about the texture.” - Mia.

“Vanilla ice cream and ice magic, green capsicums, the fizzy lollies on those bracelets and necklaces, salt and vinegar chips, pork ramen.” - Jamila.

“Canned fruit and whipped cream – I ate 10kg a day.” - Fran.

“Frosty fruits, anything with hot tomato & melted cheese, frozen pizza subs, crap sugary fizzy drinks, french fries (the snack chips), pasta, pasta, more pasta with melted cheese & tomato sauce, jelly, marmalade on toast.” - Chantelle.
