Everyone wants to be the best version of themselves on their wedding day. And when it comes to skin, the general preference is this: No break-outs and a natural, healthy, radiant looking glow.
Sounds easy, right?
But if you’re someone that battles with adult acne, sallowness and dark circles like me, attaining wedding-ready skin seems like a pipe dream.
Study says the recipe for a happy marriage is to have the world’s biggest, cheapest wedding
We spoke to Sharon McGlinchey, creator of MV Skincare, about how to prep your skin in the lead up to your big day. And she should know, with over 20 years experience treating those with difficult skin conditions her brand is used by celebrities like Emma Watson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Poppy Delevigne.
Here are her top 7 tips to a glowy face come D-Day:
1. Don’t get lured in by ‘miracle treatments’
“The advice that I always give to women who are getting married is don’t be lured by any carrots dangled in front of you. Anything that promises instant and amazing and miraculous results to your skin – avoid like the plague. Because anything that is going to be instant and amazing and miraculous generally involves some kind of trauma.

“Whether it’s laser, light therapy, chemical peels, or resurfacing of some description – the last thing you want before your wedding is to have compromised skin that is weakened or traumatised. If you want to play around with those types of [treatments], don’t do them before you get married, do them after you’re married.”
2. Cleanse, tone and moisturise
"What I recommend is a great home [cleansing] routine, at least 6 months out from your wedding day."
