A minute-by-minute breakdown of Brooklyn and Victoria Beckham's wedding dance.

It's the wedding dance that has the celebrity world talking, and now we all want to know exactly what transpired at Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's fateful wedding reception in 2022.

But wait, I'm getting ahead of myself.

Firstly, unless you live under a particularly heavy, soundproof rock, you would've heard that Brooklyn shared a lengthy statement explaining why he has cut ties with his famous folks, Victoria and David.

It was his claims about how Victoria acted at his wedding that sent the internet into a spiral (and inspired some damn funny memes).

It really was a time to be alive on the internet yesterday.

"My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped," Brooklyn wrote.

"My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress."

However, it has been widely reported that Nicola had her gown made by Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino's former head designer, which involved multiple fittings in Rome and Miami.

But it's Brooklyn's claims about the wedding dance that I urgently need to talk to you about.

Watch the hosts of The Spill discussing why Brooklyn blocked his family. Post continues after video.

Alright, let's unpack this moment-by-moment, right from the start.

The wedding was held at one of the Peltz family's sweeping estates in Palm Beach, Florida. The event was catered by French chef Thierry Isambert and was attended by Serena Williams, Gordon Ramsay, Sporty and Scary Spice.

But sadly, this wasn't to spice up Brooky and Nicky's life — or wedding!

Brooklyn claims that one of their famous guests, Marc Anthony, came on stage to help Victoria "ruin" a "romantic dance" meant for his wife. How very dare they!

"My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song," Brooklyn wrote.

"In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead."

From the get-go, this narrative is confusing. Multiple reports have claimed that Brooklyn and Nicola had already had a "romantic dance" before Anthony had appeared.

Brooklyn claiming that his mum "hijacked my first dance with my wife," doesn't seem to be all that umm… true.

According to their Vogue US spread, Brooklyn and Nicola had their first dance earlier in the night to South African singer Lloyiso's rendition of Elvis Presley's 'Can't Help Falling in Love'. According to the Daily Mail, the couple did a second dance to the Ben E King classic 'Stand By Me'.

Bit greedy, hey!

WHAT IS THE TRUTH, BROOKLYN.

But I guess this couple wanted a third dance to their fave Latino pop star?? Maybe they had a fun TikTok dance planned? Maybe Nicola wanted to be the J-Lo to Brooklyn's Marc??

These dances all happened earlier in the night, and it wasn't until 11pm, Daily Mail reports, that singer Marc Anthony took the stage to perform.

The DM reported at the time that the wedding kicked off at 6pm sharp and was a short exchange — it was over by 6:30pm.

The guests then moved into a different tent to enjoy cocktails and then a third tent (so many tents!) for the wedding banquet and reception.

This suggests that Anthony didn't come on until waaaaay later into the reception — aka we've reached the boozy end of the wedding, where things tend to get a tad messy.

Okay, so it's 11pm and Marc Anthony comes to perform his tracks 'I Need To Know' and 'You Sang To Me' on stage — a stage that was purposely built by the Peltz family for this very moment. (PS: This is important info because of what followed.)

And what does he say? Umm, this is where things get not-so-nice, as multiple reports have claimed that he made a dig at the bride, Nicola.

One 'insider' suggested that Anthony was meant to introduce Nicola to dance with Brooklyn. "It was meant to be the big romantic first dance," a wedding insider told Page Six. "It was pre-determined specifically for Nicola and Brooklyn."

This detail remains unconfirmed. In a spread the couple did for Vogue US, it was reported that this timeslot was for a traditional mother-son dance. After Victoria danced with Brooklyn, they reported David and daughter Harper joined.

This sequence of events made it seem like this was meant to be a fun family moment, but a source told People back in May 2025 that Nicola was left in tears over one specific comment.

"Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up… Victoria Beckham!'"

OOOOOOFT. Okay, this is awful.

"It was such a jaw-dropping moment that it left the whole room in absolute shock – you could hear a pin drop," they claimed to People.

"Nicola ran out crying. The Beckhams' side of the room was cheering and the Peltz side was quiet," another guest alleged.

"Nicola's friends were saying 'You have to go back down.' Her face was swollen. She finally came down and was sad the entire evening; it was so heartbreaking."

Now, let's get to the dance itself. Brooklyn has claimed that Victoria danced 'inappropriately on' him. Yes, on him. ON. HIM.

"I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life," Brooklyn wrote.

Okay, I don't know what Vicky could have been doing, but unless she was slut-dropping down low, or grinding on her son, she couldn't have been that bad?

Perhaps, she was simply trying to swing it, shake it, move it and make it. Who do you think you are, Brooklyn, to get in the way of this mum getting her groove on?

But more importantly, have the guests in attendance backed up this version of events? Ugh, it's complicated.

Enter Stavros Agapiou, the partner of British DJ Fat Tony, who performed at the reception.

In response to claims Victoria had 'hijacked' the dance, he confirmed Brooklyn's story in a now-deleted Instagram comment.

"I was there and she did, he's telling the truth," he wrote, adding "Good on him for finally speaking out!"

Agapiou then released another statement through the medium of a topless mirror selfie. Posting on his Instagram Story, he captioned, "Keeping my mouth shut from now on."

Bit late now, buddy.

Snoop Dog was also on the DJ decks during the reception, so we will patiently await his statement. Now THIS is the expert opinion we need right now.

Another guest told Page Six that Victoria "got up on stage and wrapped her arms around Brooklyn" and "nuzzled into his neck."

"She was dancing with him very inappropriately. She took that moment from Nicola, that is the God's truth."

However, a different witness told Page Six that there was no "hijack" of the couple's first dance, and denied there was anything "inappropriate" about Victoria's dance style with her son.

I'VE LOST TRACK OF EVERYTHING. WHAT CAN WE BELIEVE???

So what have we learnt? Basically, it does sound like Brooklyn and Nicola did have at least two 'first dances' at their own wedding, and Marc Anthony is bad at wedding speeches.

As for Victoria's 'inappropriate' dance, the jury is still out there.

Either way, Brooklyn and Nicola had a first dance redo when they renewed their wedding vows in August 2025 without Brookyln's parents and siblings in attendance.

"We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment," Brooklyn wrote.

I don't know what is right or wrong anymore, but in the eternal words of David Beckham, someone really needs to start to "be honest!".
