Growing up, you often talk about your wedding day with your best friends.
If you’ve had the same group of friends since you were at school, it’s a day you’re all excited about being part of.
But for Reddit user, Turtlekin that’s not exactly the way her friends reacted when she announced her engagement. She’d been friends with the same group of girls since middle school. Although they’d gone in different directions they still talk all the time.
Turtlekin is the first in her group to get engaged and she was really excited about doing all the fun bridesmaids things with her best friends.
“They didn’t seem to be excited for me, but I figured it was just because they were busy,” she said.
The bride-to-be admits in her thread that her friends had always been flakey. They had bailed on her 18th surprise birthday party, they also didn’t show to her housewarming.
“They were just too lazy to come,” she said. “They all felt bad and promised that we’d all get together in the near future, which we did.”

The disappointment continued when the 21-year-old invited her ‘besties’ to her engagement party. Only her fiance’s friends showed up.
“I tried to get them to throw me a bridal shower, but they didn’t, and my mother and aunts ended up being the ones to throw it. I tried to get them to come to my bachelorette party, but my sister/maid-of-honor told me that they weren’t really communicating with her on it. Which is twice as heart-breaking because they are bridesmaids,” she wrote.
