'It took just about everything in me not to laugh.' Woman's controversial response to her engagement ring.

A future bride has been slammed as ‘trashy’ after complaining about her engagement ring on Facebook.

A screenshot of the unnamed woman’s post has been posted on Reddit. In it, she expresses her disappointment at the pearl ring after her fiancé “finally” proposed, along with pictures.

“He pulled it out of his pocket and it took just about everything in me to not laugh and question whether this was real life or not,” she wrote.

Ouch.

She goes on to say that after wearing it for a few days, she’s “come to terms with it”.

“I definitely wish it was something different, but oh well.

“It was his grandmother’s and the pearl is my birthstone and I think that’s the only reason I’ve been able to tolerate it.”

Opinion on the post has been mainly negative, with most people questioning why she would share this to Facebook instead of talking to her fiance, even if they agreed that the ring was… unique. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

"It’s a terrible engagement ring (pearls are soft and should only be worn occasionally) but don’t post to Facebook about it. I hope he realises she will be doing this with all their problems and that’s super unhealthy," wrote one person.

"Giving someone an engagement ring without discussing it first, especially such a nontraditional one, is dumb. Complaining to everyone besides your fiancé about the ring he gave you is dumb. I reckon they at least deserve each other," said another.

Others said the woman's post - which was apparently posted to a private group about engagement rings - was a type of "group therapy", and not trashy at all. She will wear the ring for the rest of her life, so it made sense that she'd need to like it.

One user said: "I get that initially it looks like a dick move to shame a ring, but majority of the girls who self shame are doing it as a sort of therapy."

"She wanted to vent and get other people's opinion on the ring. What's wrong with that? She can talk to other people and her fiance. Maybe she wanted to get strangers opinions because her friends might be too nice to say that it's ugly," wrote another.
