The Macca's iconic logo has an unexpectedly... sexual back story.

Next time you see a pair of those iconic McDonald’s Golden Arches, take a closer look.

What do they look like to you?

Because, apparently, according to a Eric Schlosser, the author of Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American meal, that giant M is actually a pair of breasts.

BOOBS...apparently. Image via Facebook.

And here I was thinking that it was maybe a super long French fry bent into an 'M' shape because FRIES and SPELLING.

Or, you know, I just thought that it was a giant M because McDonald's starts with M and that seems like a simple enough reason to have a giant letter as your logo.

It wasn't supposed to be this complicated, guys.

According to Schlosser, the minds behind Macca's were pretty keen to change the iconic logo in the 1960s, until design consultant Louis Cheskin convinced them that the fact the arches were a little "boob-shaped" could work in their favour.

Specifically, the design had "Freudian applications to the subconscious mind of the consumer".

Urgh.

This gives a whole new meaning to the words "Happy Meal", right?

Speaking of boobs...you might need to check if your nipples are still in fashion:
