'I just got back from Copenhagen. Cool women were wearing these 5 things.'

Copenhagen is one of my favourite cities.

It's a main source of my style inspiration when it comes to my wardrobe and also the interiors of my home.

I've visited the city six times and have just recently wrapped my third Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Watch: Why we can't stop looking at Copenhagen Fashion Week street style. Post continues after video.

If you think the city and the people are cool from the pictures you've seen on Instagram or Pinterest, the in person experience is on another level.

Somehow, everything and everyone is even cooler.

While in town, I was taking endless mental notes on how people were dressing.

Whether they were sitting front row, enjoying a rare moment of sun in the park or dashing from their desk to a natural wine at their local wine bar of choice, Scandi women influenced a lot of my outfits in real time.

They're experts at layering, perfecting unexpected colour and pattern combinations and there's always a fresh take on accessorising an outfit.

There's also an accessibility aspect to most outfits here, given most locals are hopping on a bike at some point in the day (roughly 64 per cent of commuters travel by bicycle).

Despite needing some level of practicality, it amazes me how it doesn't come at the cost of style

The weather is also unpredictable – rain and wind are very common here – people need to be prepared for a sudden downpour, even at the height of Euro summer

Here are a handful of trends and styles that stood out to me during my time in the city!

1. Head accessories of all kinds.

There was barely a bare head in sight in Copenhagen

Think bonnets, bandanas, silk head scarves, multiple hair clips, hats of all kinds, elastic headbands.

I spotted crochet or macrame bonnets and head accessories multiple times a day.

The girls here are really thinking about their outfits head to toe!

I came over here with some bandanas but ended up buying silk headscarves, as well as a fun secondhand Gucci hat to join in on the fun.

After Leandra Medine sported a scarf as a belt on her Substack a few months ago and The Row released their lookbook where they'd styled a short silk skirt with lace trim over pants, this fun layering moment has been gaining popularity.

On the streets of Copenhagen, every second girl seems to be donning this look.

Whether it's a slinky skirt, scarf or strategically knotted shirt or knit tied to the middle or side of the outfit, paired with a loose pant and baggy top; it's a fresh way to jazz up a classic pant and top look.

My picks to shop this trend:

ASOS, Topshop Satin lace mini skirt, $76.

ASOS, Topshop satin trim mini skirt, $80.

ASOS, Topshop satin petticoat skirt, $76.

ASOS, Topshop tie waist mini skirt, $80.

The Iconic, Oroton All Over Logo Silk Scarf, $179.

Tabi's.

copenhagen fashion week street styl shoesSo many Tabi's around town. Image: Supplied.

Sneakers like Salomons and Asics are very popular in Copenhagen, but rivalling them are the Margiela Tabi ballet flats.

Chances are, if I'm noticing someone's cool outfit, when I look down to their feet, they're wearing Tabi's.

I'm desperate for a pair of my own and plan to purchase from the Margiela store in Paris when I'm there in a few week's time.

My picks to shop this trend:

They aren't cheap, but if you're thinking of investing, the most popular colours I've seen are black, white and silver!

You can shop Margiela Tabi's in Australia via Net-A-Porter and Ssense.

We're yet to see a tonne of this split-toe style trickle down into Australian high street stores, however you can channel the style through square-toe flats from places like Tony Bianco and The Iconic.

Capris.

The pant of the summer has to be capris.

I even found myself trying some on at the Ganni showroom – not quite sure they're exactly for me!

Shorts in general are on the longer side with Bermudas also staying strong trend-wise.

I also noticed mid-calf-length pants/shorts around town. And even capri denim.

My picks to shop this trend:

The Iconic, & Other Stories Ribbon-Detailed Capri Trousers, $169.

The Iconic, Cotton On Celine Capri Pants, $39.99.

The Iconic, BY JOHNNY. Capri Pants, $230.

Windbreaker jackets and car coats.

copenhagen street style trendsThe jacket is just as much a part of the outfit. Images: Supplied/Getty.

Practical but chic, I've seen so many windbreaker jackets around town.

It is prep done in a modern way. You can play around with the collar, folding it up or down paired with a t-shirt underneath, a loose pair of pants, and a leather thong.

It's giving Scandi minimalism and the look feels so fresh.

Another jacket of choice for those biking around town is the cousin of the trench; the car coat.

The car coat is cleaner in silhouette – no belt/zips/toggles, just a collar, pockets and buttons. It's the easiest throw-on option when jetting around Copenhagen.

My picks to shop this trend:

The Iconic, Assembly Label Blair Car Coat, $250.

The Iconic, RAINS Suva Hardshell Cargo Rain Jacket, $400.

The Iconic, JNBY Loose Stand Up Collar Jacket, $559.

The Iconic, Aim'n Cropped Waterproof Anorak, $239.

The Iconic, RAINS String W Rain Jacket, $220.

COS, Single-Breasted Car Coat, $345.

COS, Collared Cotton Car Jacket, $310.
