Kevin and Janetta, the self-proclaimed 'holiday snobs' from Travel Guides, along with fellow couple Matt and Brett, bring a wealth of experience and advice from their global travels.

From the bustling markets of Sri Lanka to the serene peaks of Switzerland, and the vibrant streets of Thailand to the hidden gems found here in Australia, these are some of their tips.

The best-kept secret location in Australia for a holiday?

Kevin and Janetta agree that Darwin is the place to be. "Last year we filmed in Darwin and I'll tell you what, Darwin has really come of age," Kevin said.

"It's just so very different… the city is really sophisticated. We really enjoyed it. It's got the best markets in Australia, the Mindil markets, the food is fantastic, and it's such a casual lifestyle."

For Matt and Brett, they encourage travellers to venture into the outback.

"We've done like one [trip] centered around Uluru, and we've done one where we started from Broome and ended in Kununurra, and then we went to the Kimberley as well. That was just incredible," Matt said.

"The whole Flinders Ranges, we just saw incredible places and Australia has so many different outbacks, it's not just everything west of Sydney," added Brett.

"It's not all just red dirt either. I think that if you're only flying over it to get somewhere else, you're really missing out," said Matt.

The best-kept secret holiday destination around the world?

Kevin and Janetta couldn't get enough of the Cook Islands. "We actually don't want to let it be known, because everyone will go there and everyone is going there now ever since we did the Cook Islands a couple of years ago," Kevin said.

"Every group rated it 5 out of 5, and now you can't get in!"

The world-travellers have a few other faves too.

"We love Croatia," added Janetta. They've been there a couple of times on and off the show, and said it 'never disappoints'.

Another country worth mentioning was Zambia. "We were having a glass of wine outside our room and a giraffe came up and stuck his head in our room," Janetta said.

Matt and Brett share their passion for Croatia and also loved Thailand. "We did a budget holiday in Thailand," Matt said.

"But we actually had a great holiday for less than $100 a day each. It was fantastic," added Brett.

"Not every holiday is some unachievable luxury holiday."

Where should everyone visit once in their lifetime?

The posh couple from regional Victoria had one answer. "You have to go to Paris, at least once, maybe 10 times in your lifetime," Kevin said.

"You can't get enough of it."

Matt and Brett reckon everyone should witness one of the seven wonders of the world.

"I do think everyone should have at least one wonder of the world on their bucket list," Matt said.

"Pick a wonder — doesn't matter which wonder because they're all gonna be wonderful — and go and do that."

For the couple, visiting Machu Picchu in Peru was "one of the most stunning places" the couple had ever been.

"I thought it would be so difficult to. You know how you sometimes think things are unachievable because they're too hard or they're too remote?" Brett said.

"It was actually quite easy to get to — we were very lucky we got to go there."

The most underrated place they've visited?

Kevin and Janetta fell in love with Sri Lanka. "We visited Sri Lanka about five years ago, and it was just a delight. We did some really interesting things, like catch this train that went up into the tea fields in the mountains," Kevin said.

"We stayed at some colonial hotels. We did an elephant safari."

The couple agrees that Finland and Switzerland are both worth the long-haul flight to get there. "Finland is a long way away but worth the trip. That was amazing," Janetta said.

"Although it's not underrated, it's certainly not overrated, but a surprise was Switzerland," Kevin said.

"It is without a doubt, the most beautiful country in the world, like retina-detaching beauty."

Like the posh couple shared earlier, Matt and Brett had to shout out the Cook Islands.

"The Cook Islands were a big surprise for everyone," Brett said.

"The thing that makes the Cook Islands incredibly special is the people — they are just so friendly and so nice. It's beautiful and, you know, it ticks all the boxes because of its natural beauty, but the people are just so beautiful too."

"It's a special place for us, we can't put into words how much we enjoyed that holiday," added Matt.
