I can easily count the number of times I've left an unfinished glass of champagne on the table because I was laughing too hard to drink it.

And that's because it has happened precisely once in my life while I was watching the Australian production of Titanique.

If you're a family member, friend, casual acquaintance (or even the handyman who assembled my bookcases and whose number I still have saved), you likely got a message from me that night. It would have told you to drop everything and immediately buy tickets to see this show. No one on my contact list is safe when a recommendation like this is on the line.

So, for everyone else in the world who didn't receive a frantic message from me about this production on that fateful night, here's why you should organise a night out with your group to see it before the year ends.

Watch: Titanique's official trailer. Post continues after video.

1. This storyline has an epic twist.

Titanique is a musical parody that was created by acclaimed Broadway performers Marla Mindelle and Constantine Rousouli, along with director Tye Blue, whose numerous credits include being part of the casting team for RuPaul's Drag Race.

The premise of the musical is to pose an unexpected yet important question: what if the star of James Cameron's Titanic was actually the real Céline Dion all along? (Just go with me for a moment here.)

The musical opens in the present day, where Céline Dion — played to perfection by Marney McQueen — hijacks a Titanic museum tour. She boldly claims to have survived the ship's sinking and promises to reveal the real story behind the tragedy.

Through classic Céline Dion hits and iconic pop anthems (yes, even 'Who Let the Dogs Out' makes a surprise appearance), Céline begins to narrate her version of what really happened during the 1997 movie on the night the Titanic sank.

Rose (played by Georgina Hopson) and Jack (played by Drew Weston) are still star-crossed lovers who begin an ill-fated romance, but this time around they are assisted by the antics of Céline (a move they desperately do not appreciate).

2. You'll never laugh so hard.

Titanique takes the romance and reverence of the classic Oscar-winning film and flips it on its head, yet it's not just the parody of the classic Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicaprio film that makes this such an intensely enjoyable night out.

The show is littered with impressively crafted jokes and witty one-liners, poking fun at the lore of Titanic itself, along with a series of pop culture gags and topical references that had the audience practically screeching with laughter and surprise.

It's also a visually hilarious show, from Rose having the infamous door strapped to her back to a musical performance by the iceberg itself. Even if phones were permitted to be used during the show, you wouldn't be tempted to reach for yours lest you miss a moment of the hilarious action.

3. The theatre's prime set-up and location.

Titanique is currently playing at The Grand Electric, a performing arts theatre in Redfern which provides the perfect space for this musical tale to unfold.

The Grand Electric's intimate space means that every seat could be classified as the best in the house, which is important because this is a show where you need to feel like you have an up-close and personal view of the actor's faces. You just can't miss a beat of their perfectly timed comedic performances.

The Grand Electric Bar is open for pre-show and post-show sips, and you'll want to factor in some time around the show to experience the venue's Parisian-styled courtyard, which is currently peppered with Titanique-themed photo opps (perfect for a group pic).

If you're looking for a pre-dinner location or a post-show snack, this venue could not be in a better location. It's just a few minutes walk from a slew of Sydney dinner and drinks favourites including popular restaurants in Redfern and Surry Hills like Bart Jr, The Redfern and Mjolner Restaurant.

As a bonus, these restaurants specifically are offering exclusive pre-show menus and complimentary drinks, adding to the magic of a group's night out at Titanique.

4. Discounted tickets for group bookings.

When you plan to see Titanique (and it should be a "when" not an "if"), you'll want to send that invitation to every group chat you're part of because this is a show best experienced with your loved ones doubling over with laughter next to you.

Also, while the majority of Titanique is scripted, many portions of it are cleverly and hilariously ad-libbed by the performers on the night, so each show is one of a kind and ready to provide you and your friends with a series of new in-jokes.

And when you book with four or more friends you get more discounted rates, while larger groups (eight or more) save $10 per ticket on selected performances. So, if you're organising a hens night or work party, look no further.

So treat yourself to an incredible night out and don't miss Titanique, your group chat will be forever in your debt.
