A woman who was stalked, stabbed and doused in petrol by a crazed Tinder stalker has spoken of her relief when police told her they had shot him.

“I’m glad he’s dead. I cried tears of relief when the police told me,” 28-year-old Dr Angela Jay told The Daily Telegraph‘s Danielle Gusmaroli in an exclusive interview.

Paul Lambert was shot by police in a standoff after he fled the scene of the attack.

Lambert had broken into Angela’s Port Macquarie home and hid in her walk-in wardrobe. When she arrived home at about 6pm on the night of the attack, he leapt out and stabbed her repeatedly and doused her in petrol.

“I looked down at my legs and saw stab wounds and thought, ‘My God, he’s going to kill me, I’m going to bleed to death’,” she told The Daily Telegraph.

“I put pressure on my leg using my hand…he caught me again and started pouring petrol over me, there was terror now and that gave me extra strength to run. I slipped because of the petrol…It’s a miracle ­I ­survived.”

Since the attack, Angela admitted she has suffered from nightmares and often finds herself checking cupboards and under the bed for intruders.

Angela had met Paul through the dating app Tinder, and the pair had dated for six weeks before Angela ended the relationship.

She had applied for an Apprehended Violence Order against him days before the attack, after he sent her around 50 threatening text messages and phone calls.

Police fear for the life of a man after the body of his female friend was recovered at a popular Sydney beach, 7 News reports.

The body of 23-year-old Shristi Bhandari was found by a jogger at Maroubra beach yesterday morning. She had arrived in Sydney from Nepal two weeks ago to begin studying her Masters degree at the University of New South Wales.

Police believe a man was with her at the time and is still missing, with personal items belonging to both being recovered from the beach.

“We haven’t been able to locate him at this stage. We’re doing our best but the surf is very hard,” Eastern Beaches Inspector Anthony Agnew said.

“There’s a strong possibility he has gone into the ocean as well.”

Search efforts have been hampered by heavy rain and rough surf conditions.

The half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been killed in an attack in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, BBC reports.

According to Malaysian police, Kim Jong-nam was waiting to board a flight to Macau on Monday when a women covered his face with a cloth “laced with a liquid”, burning his eyes.

Reports suggest Kim Jong-nam suffered burns as a result of the liquid and died on the way to the hospital.

Kim Jong-nam was the eldest son of the former North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. He is thought to have fled North Korea after he was passed over for the leadership when his father died.

“So far there are no suspects, but we have started investigations and are looking at a few possibilities to get leads,” Malaysian police official Fadzil Ahmat told Reuters news agency.

A photo of young couple, who both have Down syndrome, standing hand-in-hand on prom night has gone viral on Twitter, the Daily Mail reports.

The image was shared online by Justin’s – who stands with Victoria in the photo – big brother Jigg, who appealed to Twitter users to help their special night go viral.

His tweet has since been retweeted over 256,000 times and has amassed over 659,000 likes.

Justin and Victoria were attending the Night to Shine, a prom night for those aged 14 and over with special needs.

“They look terrific! Hope they had a wonderful night!” wrote one user.

Another declared the image had made “happy tears flow”.

“Literally made my year. Nothing better. Love wins,” she wrote.

Jigg confirmed to the couple’s new fans that the two “had a blast” on their special night.

“So much smiles, dances and shared laughs between the two of them. Amazing night,” he wrote.

A 35-year-old Ipswich mum has been sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment, suspended for three years, after she defrauded Coles and Woolworths stores of more than $4500, the Queensland Times reports.

Kylie Milner spent three months printing fake barcodes from cheap packets of fried noodles and glueing them onto adhesive labels, which she used to cover the barcodes of more expensive items when she went grocery shopping.

Milner used the self-serve checkouts but was caught when store managers noticed her appearing “nervous” when she was buying her groceries.

In three months, she stole packets of meat, protein powder, toilet paper, sheet sets and coffee machines.

When she was sentenced in Ipswich Magistrates Court, her lawyer told the court she was “struggling financially” and that she was motivated “largely by need rather than greed”.

Along with her suspended sentence, Milner was ordered to pay $1545 to Coles and $2070 to Woolworths. She was also fined a further $150.

A woman who stole a handbag from a nurse dying in a car crash has avoided a jail sentence, 7 News reports.

Silvia Schreuder stole 62-year-old Kay Shaylor’s handbag from a Pacific Highway crash scene at North Gosford on September 3.

She used the victim’s cards to buy groceries, cigarettes and McDonald’s within an hour of the nurse’s death.

It is alleged that Silvia and her co-accused pretended to assist the woman while she lay dying after the accident.

Silvia said she was high on drugs at the time of the theft, and penned an apology on Facebook.

“To the family of Kay I know sorry will never be accepted. I’m sincerely regretful,” she wrote.

Silvia Schreuder was handed a $700 fine and a three-year good behaviour bond.
