While talk of Queensland typically conjures up images of white sand beaches, stunning coral reefs and fascinating wildlife, most of us don’t know the sheer extent of what it has to offer.
To put it into perspective, Queensland is nearly five times the size of Japan. It’s seven times the size of Great Britain. And in that area, you can find five of Australia’s 11 world heritage sites, and one of the Wonders of the World.
It’s also home to the oldest rainforest on Earth, is full of national parks, and houses the world’s oldest and largest koala sanctuary, while its capital city offers a bustling cultural hub, with some of Australia’s best art, food, wine, shopping and events.
But Queensland is the kind of place that’s far better described in pictures than words.
So here are 14 photos that prove Queensland should be your next travel destination.
