The 90s have been back for a while. But for those of us who remember the first time, we have no idea why.
The fashion trends of the 1990s were silly. Sorry, 90s-revivalists, but they were.
We spent a lot of time trying to kid ourselves that matte lipstick and chunky shoes were flattering.
Maybe if we break them down we can understand why they were so popular?
Mood rings: Body temperature. Stop lying to us groovy changing colours, you don’t know me at all.
Butterfly hair clips: These things pulled on your scalp like they KNEW they weren’t going to be there long. You could only wear them for 10 minutes at a time.
Wedged converse: There are heels and then there are sneakers. DO NOT CONNECT THESE TWO – ABORT MISSION.
Neon colours: You are a person, not a flashlight.
No, you’re right, I still don’t understand it.
At least someone got through the 90’s unharmed…
