The one piece of information The White Lotus cast needs you to know before the finale.

You'd have to hold a gun to my head to make me consider holidaying with any of the characters from The White Lotus season three.

With the possible exception of Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), of course, but even then you're signing yourself up for a holiday filled with armed robberies, snake bites and befriending spoilt rich men who dabble in some light incest.

However, the same cannot be said for the cast who bring these characters to life.

In particular, Leslie Bibb, who portrays Kate Bohr, a professional wife from Texas who is in Thailand on a very complicated girls' trip, and Natasha Rothwell, who portrays Belinda Lindsey — a spa manager from The White Lotus season 1 who is confronted with a tangled mess from her past.

When I sat down to interview Leslie and Natasha during their trip to Australia, just days before the final episode of The White Lotus hits our screens, being in their presence was like being entangled in a warm hug of jokes, compliments and secrets.

The two actresses became fast friends during their run on one of TV's most popular shows, to the point where they finish each other's sentences — and my interview questions are quickly thrown out the window as they eagerly share their thoughts on the show's impact, along with what to expect from those highly anticipated final scenes.

The White Lotus seasons are known for their extensive ensemble of actors portraying wildly memorable characters, so it can sometimes be difficult for every story arc to evenly capture the audience's attention.

Which is why, going into season three, Leslie was nervous that her complicated friendship storyline with Carrie Coon (Laurie) and Michelle Monaghan (Jaclyn) would be overshadowed by some of the more dramatic moments playing out across the show. Yet her experience during the show's run has been exactly the opposite.

"The three of us were like, 'Oh gosh, is this going to work?'" Leslie told Mamamia of the moment she learnt how her story was going to play out.

"Is it even gonna translate to people, will it be overshadowed? Because these other stories on the show were so, so big.

"But I've had both women and men come up to me about our storyline and say, 'Is that how I relate to my friends?' It's like holding up a mirror, and mirrors are a big theme this year. It's about that imagery of doppelgangers and what it means when you realise it."

Leslie went on to say that she, Carrie and Michelle were amongst the first cast members to arrive on set to shoot season three, and moments into filming their first scene, the show's creator, Mike White, stepped in to tell them that they were not hitting the right note.

"We were actually one of the first ones to shoot in Thailand, and we did our first villa scene, and we really motored through the scene," Leslie said. "It was like a five-page scene.

"Then Mike came out and he said 'Whoa! Slow down, slow down, slow down', which you don't often hear in television.

"That's when I thought, 'Oh yeah, it's what we're not saying'. Mike said he was okay with silences, which is such a beautiful thing. For me, that was a real turning point where everything shifted with the work I'd already started to prepare for Kate."

While Leslie, of course, couldn't confirm what happens to the blonde trio of complicated friends in the finale, throughout our interview she kept insisting that their role this season was about showing how uncomfortable it is when your friends make you realise things about yourself that you'd rather keep hidden.

Potentially alluding to the fact that the women won't take each other out in a fiery shootout as their friendship breaks down, as fans have hypothesised online, but rather that they'll find a way to come back to each other.

"In every kind of friendship group, each person has their own sort of superpower," she said. "Jaclyn is the one who always says 'Let's go.'

"It's also about vulnerability and how to walk through this life without apologising for your truth. Which I think is what Frank (played by Leslie's real-life partner, Sam Rockwell) was doing in that monologue.

"The girls and I laughed and said, 'God if we had just come in with some Frank energy and said our truth then this storyline would be done.' We'd just be drinking rosé and having a good time doing a lot of yoga. But we can't because it's so scary to be vulnerable.

"But it's that vulnerability that makes our storyline really beautiful, that's how Mike went into creating it and I just love that."

For Natasha Rothwell reprising her role as Belinda was both comforting and nerve-wracking.

Fans fell in love with the sweet spa manager in season one and were devastated for her after she was befriended by the rich but lonely Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) and promised money to start her own business. Tanya ended up leaving her high and dry when she married Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), only for Greg to have Tanya killed off in season two.

"It's tantamount to going into your closet and finding an outfit that you loved and then you get to put it on again," she told Mamamia of stepping back into the character of Belinda.

"I was just so excited to be able to continue that story, and having the world see that Tanya didn't break her. She found the ability to bring back joy to her life and she chose to take herself on this solo trip to Thailand.

"As someone who travels solo in real life, it's a really scary thing to do if you haven't done it before. You're being asked to show up for yourself in ways that you don't normally, so it's really wonderful to see her in this new light."

When it comes to keeping what happens in The White Lotus season three finale hidden, Natasha has been keeping that secret longer than anyone else in the cast (and it's worth reading her words before you watch the finale).

"I've lied to my own mother's face about what happens in the finale," she said. "I just won't tell anyone.

"When it was announced that I was returning, we thought we were shooting at the end of 2023, but then the strikes happened. So I was out on a limb by myself for a year before anyone else had to carry the burden of knowing what was going to happen.

"It's going to be such a cathartic experience to have the world finally know how it ends."

When I asked Natasha what it was like to complete her character's arc in season three, both she and Leslie sat up a little straighter in their chairs. They then quickly replied in a way that could hint at Belinda being heavily involved in the climatic scenes we know are coming in the finale — and even see her potentially survive and return for future seasons of The White Lotus.

"How do you know she 'completes her arc?'" Leslie jumped in to say. "I wouldn't necessarily say that.

"They had dummy pages with different endings going around, just to make sure, in case we could catch someone spoiling the ending," Natasha said, hinting that even though fan theories about how the show will end have been swirling around for weeks, no one has landed on the right one.

"I can't speak to other people's satisfaction, but I do think that the finale will not disappoint," Natasha said, addressing how Belinda's storyline will end when it comes to a possible confrontation with the murderous Greg.

"I remember reading the finale script and I had to remind myself to breathe while I was reading it, because there was so much tension.

"Page after page of tension, it's beautifully executed."
