For so many people, their favourite reading moments have been with a Marian Keyes book in hand.
Namely, the books that chronicle the stories of the Dublin-dwelling Walsh family, made up of Mammy and Daddy Walsh and their five daughters: Claire, Maggie, Anna, Rachel, and Helen.
In the book Watermelon, we delve into Claire's story as she finds out that her husband, James, has been having an affair — and on the day she is due to give birth to her first child. In Rachel's Holiday and Again, Rachel, we follow Rachel's journey through rehab to the moment her new, perfect life is turned upside down when a past love reappears. In Angels, we follow Maggie to Hollywood, and in the touching Anybody Out There (and the follow-up book My Favourite Mistake), we see a story of love and loss through the eyes of Anna. And finally, The Mystery of Mercy Close takes us into the mysterious and chaotic world of the youngest Walsh sister, Helen, and her drowning private investigator business.
Now, in an event that feels as if it's been pulled directly from the pages of any bookworm's dream journal, all these beloved and worldwide best-selling books have been adapted into a new series that is set to become an instant classic.
Stan has acquired the exclusive rights to The Walsh Sisters, the upcoming six-episode comedy/drama series inspired by these Marian Keyes books, and it's coming soon to Australian screens.
Directed by Ian Fitzgibbon (known for Hullraisers and Moone Boy), the series is set against the glorious background of Dublin, Ireland, and weaves together the stories of the Walsh sisters as they navigate the peaks and troughs of their late 20s and 30s.
