The Summer I Turned Pretty is officially over… for now (but not for long, because the movie is on the way. WE ARE SO BACK).

Before we fully close the book on the series, we need to talk about all the Easter eggs Jenny Han snuck into that finale episode — because let's be honest, we were probably too busy crying over Belly and Conrad's happy ending to catch them all the first time around.

Jenny Han has become the master of hidden details and symbolic callbacks, and the series finale was absolutely packed with them.

Let's dive into all the Easter eggs, callbacks, and symbolic moments you might have missed while you were too busy having feelings about this chaotic finale.

The yellow dress.

Perhaps the Easter egg that I — along with all the other hyper-obsessive fans — have been patiently waiting for all season.

Back in July, I sat down with Jenny Han to talk to her about the show, and she very coolly revealed that there was one particular Easter egg she felt the internet had not yet picked up on at that point.

And I'm almost certain she was talking about this. Colour theory is undeniably very important in the Jenny Han cinematic universe, but while everyone was focused on red and blue this season, the colour we all should have been looking out for is actually yellow.

Cast your mind back to season one, when Laurel famously said: "To Belly, Conrad is the sun."

And if you look closely, the symbolism of sunlight and yellow tones is absolutely littered throughout the season. Episode 5 — the one from Conrad's perspective – is absolutely drenched in warm tones and yellow hues. That same episode, there is sunflower symbolism everywhere, including when they visit Michael's and in a painting behind the couple in the flashback scene.

For the very eagle-eyed fans, you might have also noticed that Conrad's lockscreen is a literal sun. Could Jenny Han have been any clearer?

All of this was pointing to one final scene: Bonrad finally together and Belly dressed from head to toe in yellow. All is right in the world again.

"Do you memorise every little thing I say?"

There's nothing I love more than a callback to previous seasons, and the way I screamed when this line came out of Belly's mouth.

During her birthday dinner in Paris, Belly smokes a joint which is being passed around, to which Conrad asks, "I thought you said marijuana messes with white matter."

"Do you memorise every little thing I say?" Belly responds.

Now, if you know, you know. The specific scene references a moment from the first season when Conrad is talking to Belly while she's swimming in the pool, and the two have almost exactly the same conversation, with the roles reversed.

Benito the secret Bonrad shipper.

If you blinked, you might have missed this very subtle moment during Belly's Parisian birthday dinner.

Conrad and Belly are sitting on the couch, having a little chat before he gifts her a bottle of sand from Cousins. She leans in to give him a kiss on the cheek. It's a beautiful moment.

Then in the background, you can distinctly see Benito pointing his camera and snapping a photo of the — mind you — very intimate moment.

Which proves only one thing. As spiky and annoying as he was during the episode, just like the rest of us witnessing the Bonrad romance unfolding in front of us, Benito is just a lover boy at heart.

The bob.

All week, the internet has been waiting with bated breath to see what new haircut Belly would be sporting. And alas, it's a chic Parisian bob… absolutely perfect for a woman living her best life in France, away from ex-boyfriends and their brothers.

We're all familiar with the infamous post-breakup hair change. You know, when you're trying to reinvent yourself and shed the straggly ends of your past. We've all been there.

But Belly's haircut is even more symbolic than that and actually takes us back to the first episode of this season.

Remember the cursed college party that Jeremiah and Belly attend? Yes, the very same one she finds out he cheated on her with Lacie Barone. Well, during that same party, Jeremiah tells Belly he loves her long hair and asks her to promise she won't cut it.

So this new bob isn't just about moving on from their relationship — it's Belly literally breaking free from the Jeremiah chokehold and doing exactly what he asked her not to do.

Belly leaning out the window.

If there's something Jenny Han loves, it's a visual through-line.

In season one, Belly and Laurel drive into Cousins, and we get the iconic shot of Belly leaning her head out of the car window. And the same way the series begins, is the same way it ends.

In the finale scene of the show, Belly sticks her head out the window in the same manner, looking back and smiling warmly at Conrad. It's worth noting that throughout her relationship with Jeremiah, Belly never once stuck her head out of a car window freely like this, which only further proves my point: Bonrad was endgame from the beginning.

Jenny Han's letter.

Jenny Han's letter at the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty's season 3 finale might just be the ultimate Easter egg for the entire series. In a heartfelt message to viewers, the creator wrote: "Maybe we'll meet again one summer in Cousins. Until then."

But we weren't left wondering for long, because shortly after the episode premiered, it was announced that we are indeed getting a The Summer I Turned Pretty movie.

"There is another big milestone left in Belly's journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due," Jenny Han said in a statement. "I'm so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans."

Milestones??? Which ones??? Will Belly and Conrad finally get married (they better)? Will we see their children visiting cousins just as they did? We need answers immediately.

The dancing.

The dancing. THE DANCING.

What a beautiful full-circle moment.

And this takes us right back to prom, where Belly and Conrad last danced together as a couple. When they swayed together with all the sweetness of young love.

Now, seasons later, we see them dancing again – but this time it's different. There's a maturity to their movements, a confidence in their connection, something more adult about it all.

Outside clothes on the bed.

Outside clothes on the bed is an absolute no-go in my own home, but particularly in someone else's house.

And Conrad Fisher knows exactly what's up. I mean, he runs a shoes-off household after all, so I expected nothing less.

In the scene where he's in Belly's apartment, waiting for her to get changed for dinner, he momentarily sits down on her bed, before promptly getting up — presumably realising that it's not at all hygienic to wear outside clothes on someone else's linens.

And when I tell you, the Asian in me quietly applauded. The respectful, courteous man you are, Conrad.

The chocolate cake.

Ah, Jeremiah and his two-tier, dark chocolate cake with a raspberry coulis filling and a mirror glaze. A romance for the ages.

And even now, after a broken engagement and a punch on with his brother, the chocolate cake is the one that comes through for him.

In the finale episode, we see Jeremiah in the kitchen once again, whipping up what looks suspiciously like a chocolate dessert with some sort of raspberry cream situation. We see you, Jeremiah! Even when he's trying to move on and start fresh, he can't help but return to his real love.

Some people journal, some people go to therapy, Jeremiah indulges in elaborate chocolate cakes with fruit coulis. And you know what? It works for him.
