From Dami Im to Ryan Reynolds, here are 8 celebs who've been on The Masked Singer overseas.

It seems Australia is entranced by The Masked Singer.

To date, we’ve watched a handful of celebrity contestants in ornate costumes compete in musical challenges, with Nikki Webster, Gretel Killeen and Aussie cricketer, Brett Lee, unmasked so far.

While the show has been a ratings hit in Australia, the original South Korean concept titled King of Mask Singer, has been dominating screens all over the world since its debut in 2015.

It’ll be making its way to the UK in 2020, with Rita Ora, Davina McCall, and Ken Jeong on the judging panel, and it’s just started its second season in the US.

As we’re waiting for the future reveals of Prawn, Monster, Dragon, Rhino, Lion, Unicorn, Wolf, Spider and Robot, here are the eight most surprising celebrities who have appeared on international versions of The Masked Singer, from A-list actors to Australia’s own Dami Im.

Ryan Reynolds

While promoting Deadpool 2 in South Korea, Ryan Reynolds made a pit stop to the King of Mask Singer studio for a guest performance. Dressed as a unicorn, Reynolds performed the classic show tune rendition of ‘Tomorrow’ from the musical Annie, and the audience lost it when he revealed his identity.

To be fair, it was the Ryan Reynolds.

Dami Im

Dressed up as the Statue of Liberty or 'The Statue of Free Road' as she was dubbed on the show, Dami Im's powerhouse vocals blew the judges away during her 2015 stint on the original South Korean reality TV show.

Although the 30-year-old only lasted for three rounds, Im made Australia proud when she sang a range of Korean pop songs.

T-Pain

Iconic 00s hip hop artist and rapper, T-Pain, was victorious in a Monster costume and won the first season of The Masked Singer US.

Although T-Pain thought he'd be quickly outed due to his distinct voice, he proved himself wrong, and performed incredible covers of Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' and Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me'.

Paul Potts

Singing under the pseudonym of 'Justice Bao', former Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts appeared on two episodes of the South Korean version of The Masked Singer in 2018.

In 2007, Potts' rendition of the operatic classic 'Nessun Dorma' scored him international acclaim. The 48-year-old continued to wow audiences with his operatic talents, singing in both Korean and English before being eliminated in the third round.

La Toya Jackson

Dave Hughes has guessed La Toya Jackson is the identity behind Unicorn (when it's OBVIOUSLY Deni Hines), and the idea may not be far-fetched. The singer, actress and entrepreneur has actually appeared on the show before, as Alien in the inaugural US season of The Masked Singer.

Judges Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke were on the money when they both chose Jackson as their final guess, with the other judges picking Sofia Richie, Paula Abdul, and Carmen Electra.

Tori Spelling

American actress Tori Spelling is easily recognisable in her role in Beverly Hills, 90210, but she went incognito as Unicorn.

The 46-year-old busted out hits such as Icona Pop's 'I Love It,' and Rachel Platten's 'Fight Song,' and said that she was motivated to participate in the competition for her five children.

"This right here, performing in front of people is my biggest fear in life. I always wanted to sing, and I loved singing but when I was little someone told me I was tone-deaf and it's stayed with me my whole life," she shared.

"I love singing with my kids and I wanted them to know they can be whatever they want to be.

"I'm sad it took me this long in life to feel confident, and feel like I can do something like this, but I'm glad The Masked Singer brought it out of me."

Margaret Cho

Donning a fabulous Poodle guise, comedian Margaret Cho sadly only lasted four rounds in the US competition before she was booted out.

Despite this, she rocked the audience with old school hits like 'Time after Time', by Cyndi Lauper and 'Heartbreaker' by Dionne Warwick.

When it came to her big reveal, the judges were waaaaay off, guessing Jillian Michaels, Kathy Griffin, Melissa Rivers, and even Judge Judy. Pfft.

Ricki Lake

US talk show host Ricki Lake dressed up as Raven during her time on The Masked Singer stage, with judge Robin Thicke successfully guessing her identity.

The Emmy Award winner said she loved the anonymity of the show, even though she admitted to being horrible at keeping secrets.

"The Raven is about metamorphosis. It's about death, but it's also about rebirth, and I went through a loss of my [ex] husband last year," said Lake, referring to the passing of Christian Evans, who died by suicide in 2017.

"This was a way to share my journey through my loss. He was the best thing that ever happened to me."
