Yes, Taylor Swift's new movie is coming to Australian cinemas. Here's what you need to know.

If you thought Taylor Swift was about to give us a quiet year after all the crying, screaming and throwing up of her sold-out Eras Tour, think again.

I mean this girl is hot off the heels of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, and she's already announced her 12th, The Life Of A Showgirl, and casually also got engaged to the love of her life, Travis Kelce.

But can she stop? Nope, and we don't want her to.

Swift just announced a brand new album and, today, a movie celebration of it — because, of course, she did. Swifties, if you hadn't already, it's time to clear the October calendar.

Here's everything you need to know about The Life Of A Showgirl movie — from what the film's about to when (and where) we can watch it in Australia.

The film will take its name and creative DNA from Taylor's brand-new album, The Life Of A Showgirl.

But don't expect a glossy Eras Tour movie rehash. Taylor has been super clear that the heart of this project isn't the sequins and fireworks on stage — it's what was happening offstage.

Think: the emotions, the late-night conversations, the love stories, and the messy little moments of being human when the lights go down.

She's even chosen an "offstage" moment for the album cover to underline the point. This is the story of Taylor — and what it was actually like to put this album together while on tour — but away from the spotlight. (Fans might also catch glimpses of her whirlwind romance with Travis Kelce, too).

"You'll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single 'The Fate of Ophelia,' along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl," she explained.

When is Taylor Swift's The Life Of A Showgirl movie being released in Australia?

Taylor hasn't left us hanging. Both the album and the film are dropping on October 3, 2025 internationally — which, FYI, just happens to be Travis Kelce's birth month. Subtle? Not really. Iconic? Absolutely.

But with the time difference, it will actually be held at Event Cinemas and Hoyts on October 4 and 5 in Australia.

Tickets are on sale September 23 internationally, but Event and Hoyts are yet to release official timing locally. Watch this space.

Don't worry Aussies, we're getting this film in theatres too — in Event Cinemas and Hoyts!

The movie will have a global cinema release first (yes, Swifties, we're back in theatres like it's Eras Tour 2.0). After its initial run, it's set to land on streaming — likely Disney+ given her existing deal, though this hasn't been officially confirmed yet.

Taylor wrote the record while she was literally living the "showgirl" life on the Eras Tour. But rather than documenting the on-stage highs, she wanted to discuss what was happening behind the curtain.

Expect lyrics that capture the joy, intimacy, and emotional chaos of her life during that time — all wrapped up in the happiest, poppiest production she's given us in years. The vibe? Glitter gel pen pop. So get ready for some pure serotonin.

Who is Taylor Swift's The Life Of A Showgirl album about?

Swifties, you don't need a detective board for this one. The album is about her life behind-the-scenes, but because of that, fans suspect there may be a few love letters to Travis Kelce on the tracklist.

Taylor basically confirmed it when she linked the release date to Travis's birthday (he is a Libra and his birth stone is opal) and revealed a track titled Opalite. Add in her gushing about how he's "a human exclamation point" so… yeah, we're getting love songs. Maybe a few of them.

What is the tracklist for The Life Of A Showgirl?

Taylor gave us the full 12-song lineup — no surprise drops this time. She said she's perfectly curated this to be short, sweet and exactly right. Every track has been produced with Max Martin and Shellback, the dream team behind 'Style', 'Blank Space' and 'I Knew You Were Trouble'.

Here's the complete list:

As for Travis Kelce's review of the album? It's Bangers only.

Why is the album orange?

Yep, Swifties, we've got another colour-themed era. Taylor revealed that orange symbolises the energy of her life right now: joyful, wild, and vibrant. All of the album visuals — and probably the movie — to lean hard into this palette.

The bottom line.

We're not just getting a Taylor Swift album. We're getting a full cinematic universe built around her real-life showgirl era — and it all kicks off on October 3, 2025.Start making your friendship bracelets now.
