Everyone is talking about The Hunting Wives on Stan, because this seductive new thriller has it all.

Alert the girly group chat because there's a new addictive show on Stan set to be your and your friends' next obsession: The Hunting Wives.

Slide on some cowboy boots and sing out a 'yee-haw' because we're going deep into the heart of Texas.

This new erotic thriller streaming on Stan is all about Sophie O'Neill (played by Brittany Snow), a mum who swaps the sophistication of Boston for the secret-filled pinewoods of East Texas.

At first, Sophie has to adjust her lifestyle to a more conservative Texas housewife vibe… and wow, is it boring. Enter Margo Banks (played beyond perfectly by Malin Åkerman), the ultimate It Girl socialite who is nothing like the army of bland Texas women Sophie has encountered.

Margo welcomes Sophie into her inner sanctum — an elite girl gang called the Hunting Wives. But forget book clubs and baking days, these ladies prefer target practice, hunting feral hogs, topless pool parties and doing shots at the local nightclub.

As Sophie's fascination with Margot morphs into a full-blown obsession, the body of a local teen is found at the wives' favourite hunting spot. And naturally, everyone becomes a suspect. Intrigued? Yes ma'am!

Simply put, this series is intoxicating.

If I had to compare it to something, it would be Big Little Lies meets The Real Housewives of Dallas. This show is all about the women at the centre of it — and they're fascinating subjects.

At the heart of the series, we have Snow as Sophie, who's no stranger to charming audiences thanks to her unforgettable roles in Pitch Perfect and John Tucker Must Die.

Brittany nails this role as the sympathetic protagonist who can't help but fall head-over-heels for Margo because… well, who wouldn't?

Speaking of the dangerously magnetic Margo (aka queen bee with a gun), Åkerman has never been better. She's most known for playing scene-stealing side characters in rom-coms like 27 Dresses and The Proposal, but as the ultimate ringleader of the Hunting Wives, she is nothing short of a revelation.

The series hinges on the chemistry between Snow and Åkerman as the actresses share a handful of (very, very hot) intimate scenes together when their friendship turns romantic. And oh my, these two light up the screen — they're tantalising together.

Make no mistake, sex is a huge part of this show, but it's the scenes between these women that feel the most intimate.

The rest of the cast are all doing their best work, too. For the character Callie, Dopesick's Jaime Ray Newman steps into the spotlight. Inventing Anna's Katie Lowes is a little too convincing as the pastor's wife Jill, adding even more layers to the story.

But a standout is Dermot Mulroney, a Hollywood leading man known for his swoon-worthy stints in My Best Friend's Wedding and The Family Stone, who has truly embraced his villain era as Jed Banks, Margo's husband.

In a rare turn, Mulroney is actually rather repulsive in this show, which proves that his sinister side as an actor has clearly been waiting under the surface until the right role came along.

Another incredible performance comes from This Is Us' Chrissy Metz, who brings maturity and depth to this role as she plays the complex character of Starr, the town's outcast.

What this show does masterfully is put the viewer in the mindset of Sophie: she's trying her best, hoping to keep her husband and son happy, but she can't help but wonder if there's more to life than suburban banality. And Margot encapsulates that vision of a more exciting future.

The show touches on a topic that doesn't get much attention either: women who choose to date men in their younger years, but as they get older, they start to explore their true sexual identity, and it leads them to date a woman.

For Sophie, we see glimpses of her in her younger years, choosing to repress her sexuality, but in the face of the enigmatic Margo, she can't help but reveal her true self.

This show is built for binge-watching: it has an unpredictable plot, a bunch of twists and turns, plus Åkerman in a rotating door of gorgeous gowns.

In many ways, it feels like a TV show version of reading an engrossing beach read by the pool: it will entertain, keep you on the edge of your seat, and you'll be begging for more by the end.

And with one hell of a cliffhanger ending, The Hunting Wives is crying out for a Season 2. Give the gals what they want!

The Hunting Wives is now streaming on Stan.
