Following the massive box office success of the psychological thriller The Housemaid, Lionsgate has officially greenlit a sequel.
From the dark corners of Freida McFadden's twisted mind, gird your goddamn lions for The Housemaid's Secret, fam.
The original film, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, has already grossed an impressive $133 million ($197 million AUD) worldwide, quickly surpassing its modest budget and making a follow-up low-key inevitable.
And yep, it's happening.

Director Paul Feig is set to return alongside stars Sweeney and Michele Morrone, with production scheduled to begin later this year.
Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine is returning to pen the script, while Sweeney will continue her involvement as executive producer.

The story follows the next chapter for Millie, Sweeney's character, who has bounced back from her harrowing experience working for the wealthy Winchester family in the first film.
Director Paul Feig shared that he's stoked to be back for the sequel.
"It's been thrilling to see audiences around the world fall in love with The Housemaid and the incredible work of our talented cast and crew," Feig said. "We're lucky that [author] Freida McFadden has already extended Millie's journey on the page, and that we get to work with Rebecca Sonnenshine and Lionsgate to bring this next story to audiences."
