So here’s another man we already know too much about.
Paul Thijssen was 24.
He was a school prefect, graduated from St Andrews Cathedral School in Sydney in 2017.
He played cricket and hockey and he was good at those things. So good that teaching sport became his job, both at St Andrews and at another school in Sydney’s east.
His parents travelled a lot.
He had studied business at uni.
He lived and worked in the most affluent, prestigious pocket of one of the world’s most beautiful, affluent cities.
And also. In October 2023, he murdered a young woman called Lilie James.Watch: Police find body as they search for a man wanted over murder of Lilie James. Post continues after the video.
He used a hammer to kill her, and then he took his own life.
Before he did that, he used Lillie's phone to text her father, saying, "Don't ask why or call please come to the school now and pick me up."
"I think he wanted Jamie to be the one to find her," Lilie's mum, Peta told 60 Minutes, just this week, a year after Lillie's death.
"I just couldn't find her," Lilie's father, Jamie, said of his frantic search for his daughter upon receiving the ominous text. "I couldn't find her. And it was getting late and I couldn't track her down. I had her bag at this stage, I had her [security] pass, and suddenly, the police came. Ambulance came."
