THE BLOCK 2025 FINALE: A record-breaking win and two surprise disappointments.

After months of blood, sweat and tears (and that's just from me watching), The Block is coming to an end tonight.

And what a ride!

Scott Cam and co-host Shelley Craft truly made their mark on the picturesque town of Daylesford in Victoria.

On this season's The Block, five teams competed to transform five identical, sprawling houses. The houses were renovated by: police couple Britt and Taz (WA), seasoned renovators Em and Ben (VIC), geologist and marketing couple Han and Can (WA), best mates Robby and Mat (SA), and plumber and dental manager Sonny and Alicia (QLD).

This season has launched one of the most talented bunch of renovators to date, but it's also been rather dramatic.

From the start, tensions between Han and Can dominated the episodes — whether they were feuding with Foreman Dan, a tradie or the other teams. Then a rivalry between Alicia and Sonny against former allies Taz and Britt emerged, and it got pretty ugly.

But much more importantly, who is set to win??

One thing is for sure: Adrian Portelli was not there to throw around a hefty bid… or buy all the houses like he did last year. The billionaire previously said he wouldn't be there, and was a no-show.

So let's get to the big auction results!

And The Block 2025 winners are…

The auction results were rather surprising! The house being auctioned first was Britt and Taz, which turned out to be first in and best dressed. They got the highest bid with $3.4 million, securing an impressive profit of $420,000.

The bids declined across the other auctions, with Mat and Robby getting the second-highest bid and Sonny and Alicia in third place. Two properties were sadly passed in: Han and Can, along with new parents Em and Ben, did not sell.

"It was an up and down and sometimes very tough day for some," The Block's producer Julian Cress said.

The winning bid means that the WA coppers, who had already scooped up $100,000 in prize money, will be taking home a cool $520,000, plus they made a record as the first team from WA to win The Block.

"It's phenomenal to walk away with a reward like this for all the hard work we have put into it. This is life-changing for us, it's incredible. It's our mortgage paid off," Britt and Taz said.

"But it's mixed emotions though, as we really wanted everyone to walk away a winner and sell their houses. I thought our auction set the tone for everyone else. We took it upon ourselves to do that, and we were shocked more than anything. We had worked as a team right to the end, so it's just a bit hard for us to see what has happened today."

What were The Block 2025 reserve prices and price guides?

The starting price guides for all five of The Block properties in Daylesford ranged from $3 million to $3.3 million for each renovated home.

The reserve prices for all five homes were set at $2.99 million — leaving the teams shocked at such a high price. However, Sonny and Alicia from House 4 will enter the auction with a $50,000 reduced reserve of $2.94 million after winning in Week 12.

What was The Block 2025 auction order?

Following a short and slightly tense discussion between the teams, they landed on an official auction order.

They agreed that Britt and Taz's house was auctioned first, then Mat and Robby's house, followed by Em and Ben, then Sonny and Alicia, with the last house to be auctioned being Han and Can.

What does it mean when a house is passed in at auction?

When a bid at auction is passed in, it means the highest bid offered did not meet the seller's minimum acceptable price, known as the reserve price.

Consequently, the house remains unsold at that time. The auctioneer declares the property is "passed in" and the seller may then negotiate privately with the highest bidder, return to market, or hold another auction.

In The Block history, this has happened a number of times — most recently in 2023, when Leah and Ash chose to pass in their home when it looked like it wouldn't hit reserve. They eventually sold their home on the market, making $155,000 profit in the end.

Similarly, Rachel and Ryan's home was passed in back in 2022. They later sold to bidder Danny Wallis, securing a profit of $169,000. Which is likely far more than they would have made on auction day.

So, there's every possibility that this season's teams could make a pretty penny once their homes are re-listed.

"They still have the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work as the houses go back on the market," host Scotty Cam declared.

Reserve: $2.99 million.

Highest bid: $3.41 million.

Profit: $420,000.

The coppers from House 3 had a confident start with nine bidders expressing interest and many more there on the day.

A mix of familiar faces and fresh bidders attended. Their bids soared to $3,410,000 and the final hammer delivered a massive $420,000 profit.

It was a hectic auction (I was stressed!) but a great result for the couple.

Police officers Britt and Taz became known for their 'wellness home', which exuded calm, modern luxury. They found their stride halfway through the season, winning the Back-of-House area, where the laundry, pantry, and mudroom were lauded for their functionality and stunning commercial-grade appliances.

They also secured a joint win for their show-stopping Kitchen with luxe finishes.

They faced intense scrutiny over some of their wins from other teams, especially Sonny and Alicia, who didn't believe they deserved the points they were awarded.

House 5: Mat and Robby.

Reserve: $2.99 million.

Highest bid: $3,099,000.

Profit: $109,000.

Robby and Mat's auction for House 5 was met with the familiar face of serial Block investor Danny Wallis. The IT entrepreneur was back doing what he does best: dropping in late to drive up the price.

The auction was flooded by heavy hitters from the Daylesford area. But it was Danny who secured the home with a bid of $3,099,000, which meant the best mates from SA pocketed a profit of $109,000.

Not bad, but not enough for them to win. (Not-so-great news for them and for me, who predicted the boys had this in the bag.)

Best mates and reno-rookies Robby and Mat delivered big on wow-factor luxury for House 5.

Their season highlights include a massive, crowd-pleasing Living and Dining Room that earned a perfect score and their spectacular, 30-point winning Alfresco and Shed, which featured a hidden, fully-stocked wine cellar and a high-end home gym.

Despite a mid-season budget scare, they finished with a playful, entertainment-focused backyard featuring a pickleball court.

Mat was particularly outspoken during some of the season's beefs between teams, but ultimately, Robby stayed out of most of the drama.

House 1: Em and Ben.

Reserve: $2.99 million.

Highest bid: $2.9 million then vendor bid of $3.1 million.

Profit: Passed in.

Unfortunately, the momentum sharply slowed with new parents Em and Ben for House 1. The bids were staggered and only reached $2.97 million before the auction was dramatically paused.

After some tense deliberation between Em and Ben, a vendor bid of $3.10 million was placed, but there was no further interest and the house was passed in.

A huge bummer for a fan-favourite team.

Seasoned renovators Em and Ben, the only Victorian team, delighted the judges with their cohesive mid-century modern with a twist style.

Some of their season highlights include winning Guest Suite, which was praised as a boutique hotel, and their near-perfect Main Bedroom.

Emma and Ben's Backyard and Pool ultimately won the week after they played their Gnome Bonus Point. The space received overwhelming praise from the judges, who were "in awe" of the design, with Marty Fox convinced this would "capture the buyers."

Their journey was smooth sailing, and the couple even revealed during filming that Emma was expecting their first child.

House 4: Sonny and Alicia.

Reserve: $2.94 million.

Highest bid: $3,060,000.

Profit: $120,000.

Sonny and Alicia in House 4 had a competitive edge because they entered the auction with a $50,000 reduced reserve of $2.94 million and the house came with a bonus caravan.

To avoid another Em/Ben situation, the auctioneer started strategically with a vendor bid of $3.05 million.

Then… crickets. No bids came in for a painfully long time.

But then one of The Block's most consistent buyer advocates, Frank Valentic from Advantage Property Consulting, came along to place a bid of $3,060,000. This secured a $120,000 profit for the parents from Queensland.

Gold Coast parents Sonny and Alicia proved to be the dark horse team, starting strong with their Main Ensuite, featuring a calming green concrete bath.

They failed to deliver for the rest of the season but came out swinging at the end by winning Front Yard for the season finale, complete with an eye-catching "textbook Aussie Backyard" kangaroo sculpture and mature trees that gave the home a grand feel.

As a team, Sonny and Alicia didn't shy away from conflict, accusing Han and Can of stealing their spa idea, and getting into a war of words with Britt and Taz.

House 2: Han and Can.

Highest bid: Vendor bid $3.10m.

Profit: Passed in.

The vibes were already low even before Han and Can's auction, and it was clear that House 2 was ending the day under immense pressure.

Like House 4, their auction kicked off with a vendor bid of $3.10 million to set the tone, but sadly… that was it.

SILENCE. Welp.

After a lot of back-and-forth, there was no buyer uptake and the couple's house was also passed in.

The WA couple, Han and Can, delivered a house with quirky, bold design statements. Their biggest wins were a luxurious, day-spa-inspired First Bathroom, featuring an innovative amber see-through bath, and their winning Rumpus Room was praised as a perfect family space.

Han and Can had a rough ride, with the couple often battling each other over their communication and Han having tense words with both the host Scott Cam and Foreman Dan over some dodgy decisions.

Host Scott Cam shared his sentiments with the teams that didn't sell. "Today was more realistic of what mums and dads are going through when they are selling their homes. Some are successful and some are not. But we want all of our contestants to be successful," he stated.

"We filmed with them for three months and got to know all of them so well, but unfortunately, Em and Ben and Han and Can weren't able to do it today. But they still have the opportunity to be rewarded for their hard work as the houses go back on the market."
