'The one thing no one is saying about Han and Can's "villain edit" on The Block.'

Another day, another scandal that Han and Can have found themselves smack bang in the middle of on The Block.

Is anyone else tired? Can these gals have a week off?

Okay, so what's their crime this time? Han and Can's tradesman, Ben, has been let go — and the rest of the contestants are not happy!

Taz said the decision had sent "shockwaves through the whole Block," with Britt adding, "We all knew what a good builder he was."

Mat and Robby were equally confused by the choice, which Robby described as "strange because he got a 10 and helped with a winning room." Sonny and Alicia felt the same. "If I'm getting a 10, I'm not sacking my builder," Sonny said.

Basically, the cast lost their goddamn minds — without having any of the facts — and what actually happened remains hazy.

The episode then veered into conspiratorial territory, which has happened a lot with Han and Can this season.

Ben suggested that all was not well between himself and the WA couple. "I kind of wish I was in a different house," he said. Ben told Foreman Dan the women said he was "too expensive and their budget has been blown out too many times."

Ben suggested that Han was "gutless" and she 'blindsided' and "strung me along".

Then, like clockwork, comes the secret recording. A suspicious scene is played of Han asking Ben if he 'has a mic on' before attempting to chat to him. A producer told Ben that Han took her microphone off to call him.

Han and Can were asked what happened. Their response? A bit vague. But Can mentioned they found a different building team led by a newbie named Shan. A clip was played of Han venting to Shan about Ben's slow performance, but that's all we saw about that. It's all confusing???

They didn't really address why they didn't want certain scenes filmed. "It looks like you're hiding information from us," a producer is heard scolding the women. Han cracks it and walks off, saying they are being 'framed', calling attention to other teams shuffling around tradies without this level of scrutiny.

This is, well… true.

Can we let the women live! Image: Nine.

I get that anyone getting let go from a job will lead to heightened emotions — especially in a tight-knit group like The Block. But it's getting a little old that every time Han and Can basically do anything (??), they face a litany of suspicion and their judgement is never trusted.

I can't imagine anyone coming down so hard on Taz and Britt for choosing to enlist the help of a different tradie for a room.

Can we let them live! Until we know exactly what's what, maybe The Block teams and the producers should give these women some grace.

We reached out to Nine to speak to Han and Can but they were unavailable for an interview at the time of publishing.

As a viewer, it's not fun watching Han and Can be piled on almost every episode. All this drama is overshadowing the chance to get to know the other teams. Like seriously, I don't think I could pick Emma and Ben out of a lineup — aside from their pregnancy announcement, they've copped so little screen time.

Han and Can are not perfect people. They had an especially awkward moment with Foreman Dan last week when they were caught on camera breaking the rules by washing their paint brushes on the ground.

This isn't the first time they've been caught out, as Han was previously spotted waterproofing by Dan, despite being told she couldn't waterproof without a tradesperson present.

But then there's their 'cheating scandal' that just feel like a bit of a reach. Sonny and Alicia accused the couple of stealing their spa renovation idea because their bathroom also featured a heated seat.

Reminder: this is a bathroom in chilly Daylesford.

Behind-the-scenes footage aired that was meant to prove Han and Can's guilt but instead… it kinda of just proved it was their tradie who copied Sonny and Alicia's heater installation idea.

I understand that villains aren't typically 'made' in reality TV — you can't physically force these people to act the way they do — but in Han and Can's case, their villain arc doesn't feel entirely authentic.

Every episode is about amplifying the couple's worst moments and diminishing any of their lighter and fun moments.

In a chat with Mamamia last month, the couple confirmed that what viewers see doesn't always reflect the truth. "Sometimes what happens behind the scenes doesn't make it to air," Han and Can told us.

"We genuinely got along with everyone, it was our little Block family and we will be bonded for life!" The divisive couple admitted they counted Sonny and Alicia as their closest friends — despite the rivalry persistently shown on the show.

Overall, Han and Can's behaviour is pretty mild compared to the other The Block 'villains' to come before them.

On last year's season, Kylie and Brad quickly positioned themselves as the villains — but tbh, for good reason.

Brad got caught flirting with fellow contestant Mimi while his wife Kylie was napping nearby. The situation escalated when Kylie later discovered Brad had told Mimi he would follow her on OnlyFans.

Kylie herself was frequently criticised for what many viewers and contestants described as 'mean girl' antics and poor sportsmanship.

She and Brad failed to congratulate sisters Maddy and Charlotte on a room win, and even tried to turn other contestants against the sisters. Following a particularly harsh critique of their room, an incensed Kylie once told host Scott Cam to "wrap it up." The couple then made the shocking decision to quit the show entirely.

I mean, that's a couple of flesh-and-blood reality TV villains.

Then of course, there were the 2023 villains Kristy and Brett, who were accused of bullying, lying, manipulation, spreading conspiracy theories about production, abusing the crew and even tried to 'sabotage' fellow contestant Steph Ottavio.

Watch the awkward moment Kristy was caught in a lie. Post continues after video.

In Han and Can's case, they ummm... didn't wash their paint brushes properly and fired a chippy because they *GASP* wanted to potentially save on their budget.

Let's all take a breath and let the women make the occasional (pretty petty) mistake without imagining devil horns growing out of their hair.

I know this season is a little desperate for drama, but if you have to force it this much, then it's not worth the hassle.
