The Block fans are turning on the show. The problem is bigger than the season's latest feud.

The Block teams are fighting again, but this time, viewers are finding this feud difficult to stomach.

So what's the latest with these crazy kids? Fresh off winning the latest week on The Block, the group quickly turned on victors, Britt and Taz.

The hate campaign was spearheaded by Sonny and Alicia — who oddly positioned themselves as Britt and Taz's closest pals throughout the show — with the Blockheads left furious that the WA police officers took the top prize over Han and Can, who lost by half a point.

This would be one thing — design is subjective, after all, and not everyone will agree on which room deserves the best marks. However, Sonny and Alicia then decided to outwardly criticise Britt and Taz's winning design, making cruel remarks about their work.

"You know what your mistake was?" Alicia sarcastically told Can in front of the winning team. "You painted too nice."

Real subtle, pal.

It was all a bit much, right? After all, Taz and Britt didn't choose to win that week, it was Shayna Blaze who gave them their winning mark.

But then things took a more sinister turn when the teams had dinner without Taz and Britt and hatched a plan to hold a body corporate meeting.

Their new problem with the couple? Britt and Taz had worked ahead on their outdoor subframe last week and even though they were already penalised for this, umm, I guess they needed to be penalised… again!

It's all rather baffling stuff and it was nasty viewing, especially as Taz and Britt arrived at their work site to discover that the other teams have been conspiring against them. Well, minus Emma, who didn't agree with the body corporate idea so refused to attend the meeting.

Things got especially heated between Alicia and Britt. The awkward encounter was later described by Britt as one of 'the worst days of her life'.

The Block fans found the entire scene beyond weird, as it seemed pretty obvious that this whole 'body corporate scandal' only came about because the teams didn't think Taz and Britt deserved their win.

Over on The Block's Instagram page, fans have shown they were on Team Taz and Britt while sharing negative sentiments about Alicia and Sonny — including some not-very-nice commentary.

A lot of fans have shared that they aren't enjoying the drama that's unfolding lately, going as far as to say they might stop watching.

In a popular post on The Block's subreddit, one user wrote that the "cattiness has lost me tonight," referring to the group ganging up on Taz and Britt.

"After all of these years, do the producers not understand that we don't want to see grown adults behaving like that?"

But is this true? According to the ratings, it seems that viewers do actually want to see grown adults acting like that.

Monday night's episode was another ratings winner for Nine, which kicked off the drama between the teams. The Block was the most-watched show in its timeslot with a national reach of 2.1 million people and a total national average audience of 1.3 million viewers.

Tuesday's episodes saw the drama between the teams reach boiling point and again, The Block drew in staggering numbers, maintaining its national total TV reach of 2.1 million people.

Despite its naysayers, Nine reports that The Block is the most popular program watched by people in the lucrative 25-54 and 16-39 age brackets.

Of course, for any successful TV show — scripted or reality TV — there needs to be some kind of conflict and resolution at play. The plot needs protagonists (aka heroes) and antagonists (aka villains), plus stakes high enough to keep the viewer engaged.

This is where the 'reality TV villain' comes in and despite the show really trying to push Han and Can into that role early on (and failing), they were laying the groundwork for Sonny and Alicia to be the season's true villains.

And look, I'm sure we're only seeing a slice of the real story and in their everyday lives, I have no doubt that these married parents from Queensland are lovely people.

But on The Block, the parents are proving to be the main aggressors in almost every conflict. It's a little exhausting!

They accused Han and Can of cheating by stealing their seat-warming idea in the spa challenge and now, they're coming out swinging against the police officers because *checks notes* Taz and Britt didn't do a very good paint job.

The stakes for all this drama just seem way too low. It's all just a bit… unnecessary? The Block is descending into Lord of The Flies-level tyranny and Sonny and Alicia have anointed themselves as the judge and jury of what's morally right.

The couple has been copping a lot of criticism as the season has aired, with Sonny even posting on his personal Instagram account in response to some of the fans who trolled the couple.

"Those who know who we are [can] see we are genuine people unafraid to give an opinion. We do not deserve to be punished over that," he wrote.

"My wife is a beautiful, strong woman, and [it] seems the world and mostly women cannot deal with that."

Alicia previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that she believes the backlash comes back to their edit. "I feel like because Britt and Taz have this nice edit and Emma and Ben are just the happy couple that can do no wrong, the hate's got to go somewhere," she said.

Whether it's a bad edit or not, there's no denying that Sonny and Alicia have become the most talked-about team this season.

I think some of these people just need to take a breath, maybe get out and explore Daylesford for a day (may I suggest a visit to the bathhouses, they are lovely!) and remember these are real people at the centre of these Block pile-ons.

For Taz and Britt, The Block took a toll on their mental state. "We thought The Block was really, really hard, and that's saying something," Britt told Yahoo Lifestyle.

"We're like little ducks — we're cool, calm, and collected on the surface because of what we do for work, we've built up that resilience, but below the surface, we're stressed as hell."

Taz told Chattr they were "very disappointed" by the other teams turning on them.

"We were very flat because we've all been through it. We've had great wins, and then we've had some losses, and during the losses, I feel like we're there for people just as much as we are during the wins."
