Shelley from The Block just spilled loads of spoilers for the 2025 season, and oh boy.

The Block is back for 2025, bringing a fresh chapter and fresh-faced contestants to the iconic reality TV show.

This year, The Block sets up camp in Daylesford, Victoria — marking the first time the show heads to this boujie little spa town known for its amazing restaurants and laid-back lifestyle.

In a twist guaranteed to thrill true Blockheads, this season's contestants will be building their dream homes from scratch rather than renovating existing properties. Huge!

Every team is handed identical floorplans, which means creativity, resourcefulness and pure vision will be all that matters.

On the judging panel, Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox bring their style savvy as they weigh in on everything from hideous colour palettes to resale potential.

Guiding the teams through every room, Scott Cam and Shelley Craft are back as hosts, and we got to speak to Craft ahead of the show's launch to pick her brain on everything we can expect for the 2025 season.

And oh boy did she spill some good tea. Slurp it up, fam.

What to expect from The Block 2025: every spoiler and the contestants to watch out for.

From the first day of filming, contestants were thrown by the massive pivot to doing an entire home from scratch.

"It was a very mixed reaction. We've got one team who has auditioned for seven years in a row, and I think they thought they were well-prepared for what might be coming… when they saw the steel frame standing there, all their plans would have been thrown out the window," Shelley told Mamamia.

The contestants soon realised this was The Block, but not as they knew it.

"To stand there and to see these skeletons of homes standing in front of you, it dawned on them very quickly that this was not your average The Block series," she teased.

And just to shake things up even more, the all-night paint-and-panic sessions of previous seasons are firmly in the past. A new 'tools down' rule means teams are banned from working through the night.

"They're used to doing all-nighters, where they can manage their construction team during the day, knowing that we've got all those midnight hours to then paint, clean and prepare for the next day."

But there were some upsides to this change.

"Once the tradies have gone home, they were shut out, but it also gave them a lot of opportunity to pre-plan, and prepare in their minds for the next day… then actually having the brain capacity to work smarter when once they were back on site."

So what about this brand-new batch of contestants? Shelley thinks viewers are going to love them.

"I don't think there's anyone you're gonna hate, like previous years when you just go, 'Oh my goodness, I can't take any more of that.' This year, you'll love everyone, you'll find your person," she said.

That said, Craft did name one team set to be the most divisive.

Girlfriends Han and Can are a dynamic duo from WA. Han, a 29-year-old geologist with renovation experience, and Can, 31, who works in marketing, met a year prior on Hinge and immediately started planning to do The Block together.

"Han and Can, they're gonna be a tough one, but it's a rollercoaster with them," Shelley said.

"Them as people, you're gonna love them one day, you're gonna wanna give them a big hug, and the next day, you're gonna want to slap them around and say 'Come on girls, it's gonna be okay, tough it up, let's go.'"

In particular, this team received more than a few err… reality checks delivered from host, Scott Cam.

"Scotty, as a dad of three kids and he has a daughter, he felt very much for Han and Can. They did find themselves getting out of sorts at times, but he knows what it takes to get the job done," she said.

"He doesn't think that girls need to have it easier or softer, or he needs to be more gentle with them. You have the capabilities, you've got the skills, you've got the personality — toughen up. He had a few words with Han and Can along the way."

Ooft, can't wait! Another twosome set to stir up some drama is Robby and Mat, best mates and rookie renovators hailing from South Australia. Robby, 37, works as a barber while 41-year-old Mat is a hairdresser.

"Mat from South Australia is an over-the-top, excitable, hilarious hairdresser. The fact that he thought Scott Cam was two different people — that pretty much sets the scene for his journey on The Block," Shelley joked.

"I didn't know how it was going to play with Mat not having a clue who Scotty was, but he took that on the chin, and there was a bit of bromance going on there by the end."

Then there are our other couples, who are all set to make an impression on fans. Britt and Taz, married police officers from Western Australia, are predicted faves.

"Britt and Taz, they're just adorable. They're like Barbie and Ken, they're beautiful, but then they're coppers… they love their jobs, and they're obviously extraordinarily good at it," Shelley said.

Then there's Victorians Emma and Ben: she's a 33-year-old dance teacher and he's a 32-year-old engineer. "I know everyone's gonna love them because they're just fun and they're there for a good time," Shelley shared.

"They've got renovation experience, so they feel quite comfortable in the space, and they're from Victoria, so I think they feel just a little bit more settled from the word go."

They sound like the couple to watch!

Rounding out the five teams are Sonny and Alicia, a married couple from Queensland, who Shelley thinks will be a slow burn.

"I think Sonny and Alicia will grow on people slowly. They're very dry at the beginning, and it takes them a little while for their humour to kind of sink in, but ultimately, they're a beautiful couple."

This season will have Foreman Dan front and centre, as Foreman Keith steps back to focus on his health. And the dynamic between Dan and the teams sounds… a little tense.

"He's very tough on them if he doesn't think they're pulling their weight, as is Scotty," Shelley said.

"He says, 'Sometimes their 110 per cent is like 60 per cent, so get on with the job. You're not working as hard as you think you are!'"

With fresh faces, new rules and a stunning backdrop, The Block 2025 is set to deliver jaw-dropping design, and some delicious drama.

"Like any workplace or building site, there are always differing opinions," Shelley teased.

"But ultimately, they are really good humans — they had a lot of fun, and we had a lot of fun."
