Hannah and Candice met on Hinge. Within a few months, they applied for The Block.

The 2025 season of The Block is up and away, and already there's one team that is an early standout: girlfriends, Hannah and Candice (aka Han and Can).

Hailing from Western Australia, Han is a 29-year-old geologist and lifelong reno-lover, and her partner Can is a 31-year-old creative marketing and social media analyst.

After being introduced in the first episode, the couple quickly caught the attention of viewers for their wholesome romance, along with Han's dramatic reaction to the house the couple were given to renovate this season. Spoiler: she wasn't thrilled.

But what do we know about these lovebirds from WA? This is everything you need to know.

Who are Han and Can from The Block?

Han grew up helping her father renovate homes and migrated from the UK to Australia at the age of nine. A natural-born creative, Can channels her passions through her role in marketing and social media.

The couple says they balance each other's strengths. "We balance each other out perfectly," the couple told New Idea.

"Han brings intensity, vision, and project leadership, while Can brings calm, creativity, and heart."

This dynamic means one is always ready to step up for the other. "We back each other 100 per cent, and when one's at 10 per cent, the other's at 90 per cent."

After meeting, they noticed they had a shared passion for home renovations.

"We're both obsessed with design, construction, and proving that women can absolutely nail it in this space."

Both of the women grew up with their dads teaching them all about getting their hands dirty.

"Han grew up on building sites helping her dad with his renovation business, while Can has merged her mum's influence as an artist and her dad's handy-man skills, to apply her own creativity to properties and DIY," they told TV Week.

While taking on The Block's intense competition, the couple is also busy renovating their bungalow in Perth.

What have Han and Can said about The Block?

When discussing the hardest part of filming, they said it was "the emotional toll," they told TV WEEK.

"Working all day every day has on you, with no privacy. Watching from the couch just doesn't do it justice!"

The couple know that not all of The Block viewers will necessarily connect with them and their story.

"People will always have opinions – it's TV! But we've gained a new family in our fellow contestants, and only they know the full picture. We've got each other's backs, and that's all that matters."

How did Han and Can from The Block meet?

The couple met on Hinge a year ago. "She absolutely blew me away… we ended up at a wine bar talking until 3am," Can said on The Block.

"We have been inseparable ever since."

It was on this first date that the women hatched a plan to one day apply for The Block.

"We've both been lifelong fans of The Block – we bonded over renovation on our first date (romantic, we know). We joked about going on the show one day, and now here we are, high-vis and all," they told TV WEEK.

This means that the couple — who said they had been together a year at the start of filming — would have had to apply for the show within mere months of dating.

That's commitment, folks. When you know, you know, right!

"We're both obsessed with design, construction, and proving that women can absolutely nail it in this space. We're excited to push ourselves and show Australia what 'Handy-Han' and 'Can-Do-Can' are made of," they continued.

"We're yin and yang. Or more like a cordless drill and a hammer — different functions, but together we get the job done."

They were both ready to dive headfirst into an exciting new challenge together. "I have always wanted to do The Block but never had anyone to do it with," Han said to 9Entertainment.

Can added: "I'm creative at heart and have always had a love of real estate, so I thought why not?"

Their journey to meeting each other and starting their relationship was not without some bumps in the road. "I grew up with a lot of shame and insecurity around my sexuality," Can admitted in episode one.

"I have not professed that I have a girlfriend and I'm gay. I do hide it from certain people and [in] certain instances. To come on national TV… it is a big thing, and it's like fully owning yourself.

"I'm here and this is who I am — I'm no different."

Han agreed, "That's how it should be. You treat me well and I'll treat you well."

The couple told New Idea that "building a life together" makes them the happiest.

"After so many hardships, it's amazing to be in a union where we are both growing, learning and creating each and every day."
