Let’s be real: The best part of The Block is critiquing all the finished rooms whilst conveniently forgetting contestants literally had less than a week to put it together.

“I COULD EASILY DO THAT,” we lament from the couch, ignoring the fact we have precisely zero experience within the field.

It’s great.

Sunday night’s episode of The Block was the master bedroom reveal. Well, it was meant to be. One pair went rogue and decided they would reconfigure their house plan and not deliver a bedroom. But more about that later.

Here are all five room reveals, from bottom of the leader board to the top.

Jesse and Mel

Jesse and Mel decided to reproduce the design of their guest bedroom, which they won a challenge for in week one. Which sounds smart, but the judges weren’t fans.

“It feels ordinary, I’m sorry I feel completely underwhelmed,” judge Neale Whitaker said.

“This couple really impressed me that very first week but I haven’t felt that same emotion again. Jesse and Mel have become a team consistently disappointing,” he continued.

The other judges agreed. Jesse and Mel finished last, with a score of 22.

Andy and Deb

Next were Andy and Deb, whose room divided the judges.

Whilst Neale complimented the "calm room", pleased the couple had presented a more "sophisticated and grown up" style to previous weeks, Shaynna thought the design was too "nanna".

"The more I look at it the more 'nanna' it becomes," she observed.

Darren loved the room and in particular the walk-in wardrobe, but felt let down by the lack of storage space.

The couple finished equal third, with a score of 24.5.

Tess and Luke

For Tess and Luke, finishing a room is an achievement in itself. And this week they nailed it.

"It’s edgy, cool, art driven and interesting," Darren said, with Shaynna agreeing that she loved the artwork.

Neale didn't agree with the styling of the mirror above the bed, adding the space felt "cluttered".

They received an A+ for functionality in the walk-in wardrobe department from all the judges and ultimately came equal third with Andy and Deb.

Matt and El'ise

Coming in second, Matt and Elise received complimentary reviews for the colour palette and detailed ceiling of their master bedroom.

"I think they really understand the meaning of ‘home’ and the emotion of what that means, because I really feel like I’m in someone’s home," Neale complimented the couple. Which is deep.

The room came with a coffee station, fireplace, bar fridge and makeup area, which earned the couple thumbs ups from all three judges.

They would have liked for there to be more storage space in the walk-in wardrobe, but nevertheless Matt and El'ise received 26 from the judges' scores.

Mitch and Mark

We started from the bottom now we here.

Mitch and Mark won the master-bedroom week despite being the only pair to not deliver a master-bedroom.  Because what are rules for if not to be thrown in the bin. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Instead of delivering four bedrooms like the rest of the houses, Mitch and Mark decided they will only have three. And instead of a master-bedroom, they presented a luxury entertaining space.

Despite the potential ramification for the market price to reduce due to there being one less bedroom, the judges loved it.

Shaynna described the rearrangement of the floor plan as "the most exciting twist I have ever seen while judging The Block".

"What is the one thing we’ve always said on The Block — change the architects plans at your own peril," Darren said.

Mitch and Mark won the $10,000 in prize money, finishing on top of the leader board with a score of 27.
