'I think it's really special that they made all The Beatles hot.'

The Beatles biopic is officially underway and the casting may just be the most delicious news we've heard all year.

Not to be dramatic, but the cinematic gods have absolutely outdone themselves with Sam Mendes' upcoming Beatles project. It's not just one film — because why settle for a single serving when you can have the whole damn feast — but FOUR separate yet interconnected movies, each zeroing in on one member of the band that literally invented mass hysteria.

Sony Pictures have confirmed that Paul Mescal (of tiny-shorts-and-chain-necklace fame), Barry Keoghan (the industry's favourite chaotic pixie dream boy), Joseph Quinn (of "Chrissy, wake up!" cultural reset), and Harris Dickinson (the man who made us never look at a glass of milk the same way again in Babygirl) will be transforming into Paul, Ringo, George, and John, respectively.

The pure poetry of it all — casting the hotties of the moment to play literal Beatlemania-inducing icons? The symmetry is delicious.

As we all prepare our emotional stability for seeing all our internet boyfriends in those iconic bowl haircuts, here's what you need to know about the upcoming films.

Hold onto your vinyl collections, darlings. Our collective internet boyfriend, Paul Mescal, is set to transform into Sir Paul McCartney.

The Irish dreamboat, whose cheekbones could literally cut glass, will don those iconic moptop locks in The Beatles biopic. This is not a drill.

The Normal People and Gladiator II heartthrob is about to channel the legendary bassist who penned 'Yesterday' and our hearts are absolutely BURSTING. Mescal's meteoric rise from footy shorts diva to embodying rock royalty is the career glow-up we're obsessed with.

Harris Dickinson is set to transform into the legendary, controversial, and iconic John Lennon.

The Triangle of Sadness actor (with his brooding intensity) is about to step into the Chelsea boots of rock's most revolutionary poet.

Prior to the announcement, Dickinson had been absolutely cagey when asked about the role, telling reporters with a cheeky grin that playing Lennon "would be splendid" — which was basically British actor code for "YES, IT'S HAPPENING!"

The idea of Dickinson embodying Lennon's sardonic wit and complicated soul has us positively weak at the knees. If you watched Babygirl, you'll know that Dickinson taking on the intellectually provocative Beatle is casting PERFECTION.

Well, well, well, looks like Hollywood's favourite chaotic oddball, Barry Keoghan, is trading bath water-slurping for drum-thumping as he steps into Ringo Starr's boots.

The casting feels like the most perfect match-up. I mean, who better than Saltburn's grave-shagging scene-stealer to capture the self-deprecating humour of the Beatles' beloved underdog?

Keoghan's quirky energy and Ringo's goofball charm seem destined for each other. Just picture it: Keoghan's wide-eyed intensity behind a drum kit, saying "peace and love, peace and love" with that distinctive lilt. Perfection.

If there's anyone that's been absolutely smashing it in Hollywood lately, it's Joseph Quinn.

After stealing our hearts as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things — complete with that iconic Metallica guitar solo that had us all ugly-crying — the man's career has gone properly stratospheric.

Now he's been tapped to play the spiritual, guitar-wielding George Harrison, and frankly, it feels like perfect casting. Quinn is collecting iconic roles faster than George collected sitars.

Before he even gets to don the Beatle boots, Quinn's set to light up screens (quite literally) as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Marvel's reboot of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The man clearly knows his way around both a guitar and a devoted fandom, making him the perfect choice to play the so-called "quiet Beatle".

Film details about The Beatles biopics.

Given we only just got the official casting announcement (although… we knew. In some ways, we've always known), there are still many details about the upcoming biopic that are under wraps.

However, it has been confirmed that rather than one standalone movie, the biopic will be spread across four separate films.

The Beatles-verse is officially happening.

"We're not just making one film about the Beatles — we're making four," Mendes said. "Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply."

This upcoming Beatles project is actually the very first time Apple, the Beatles' record company, and the real Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, have granted the rights to their stories for a big screen adaptation. Which… well, is huge.

Honestly, take my money now and just lock me in the cinema already.

When is the release date for The Beatles biopics?

All FOUR of these musical masterpieces will hit theatres simultaneously in April 2028. Talk about the ultimate binge-watch. I mean, Mendes has described the films as "the first binge-able theatrical experience," which just makes so much sense.

The man clearly doesn't do things by halves, does he? Four separate films, four years to wait, and approximately 18,472 Beatles wigs to be crafted in the meantime.

Mark your calendars — 2028 just became the year we're all suddenly "working from home" for a week.
