Netflix has an important reminder for everyone romanticising 'hot' serial killer Ted Bundy.

Conversations with A Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes dropped on Netflix last week, reigniting a whole heap of discussions around infamous serial killer Ted Bundy.

The chilling four-part series, which features never-before-heard recordings of Bundy from when he was on death row in 1980, has been trending online all week.

But while the series is certainly gaining a lot of traction, some seriously concerning audience reactions have led Netflix to step in.

You see, despite being a mass murderer, kidnapper and rapist responsible for the deaths of at least 30 people during the 1970s, Bundy has always been known for his charming personality.

And now, with Bundy back in the limelight once again, thousands of viewers of the new series have taken to Twitter to praise the serial killer’s charm and attractiveness, leading Netflix to respond.

“I’ve seen a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service – almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers,” the streaming platform wrote on Twitter.

Netflix’s response to the deeply problematic tweets echoes audience reactions to Netflix series YOU which premiered in early January.

YOU follows fictitious character Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager played by Gossip Girl actor Penn Badgley whose obsession with his girlfriend Beck drives him to extreme lengths as he quickly becomes a stalker-turned-killer.

Since the series premiered, an insane amount of viewers have admitted to feeling attracted to character Joe, despite his murderous and abusive tendencies.

The concerning love and adoration for Joe online became so prominent that Penn Badgley himself responded to a number of the tweets.

“Said this already but @PennBadgley is breaking my heart again as Joe. What is it about him,” one fan wrote. “A. He is a murderer,” Penn responded.

Another woman tweeted: “Okay but @PennBadgley was sexy as Dan but lord Joe is a whole new level”.

The former Gossip Girl actor simply replied: “… of problems, right?”.

Netflix’s upcoming Ted Bundy movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be released on May 3.
