It started with a friendship bracelet and ended with an engagement ring. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have just announced they're getting married.

In internet breaking news the international pop star and NFL tight end posted a series of romantic pictures to celebrate on their social media.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," they wrote on Instagram with an emoji of a grenade going off.

Now we don't know about you, but it seems they knew that the internet would lose its collective mind over this one.

The accompanying images showed Kelce, clad in white shorts and a black top down on one knee, while Taylor holds him.

They're in what can only be described as one of the most beautiful locations, surrounded by flowers in an ethereal woodland scene. Swift wore a whimsical Ralph Lauren white and black silk blend dress.

Now, given Taylor is a self-made billionaire and Kelce is raking in millions a year, the ring is of course, massive.

Taylor was wearing a huge ring reported to be approximately 10 carats, in an antique, cushion cut shape.

Harper's Bazaar reports that the old mine diamond is likely worth $1 million.

These sorts of antique diamonds showcase a hand-cut craftsmanship not often seen in the diamond industry these days, with a yellow-gold detailed band.

Reports are that Kelce designed it alongside Artifex Fine Jewelry's Kindred Lubeck.

Taylor Swift's engagement caption has a deeper message.

Because Swift is an absolute mastermind, we need to take a minute to unpack the announcement for all its Easter egg goodness.

The couple used the song So High School, which is about their relationship, to soundtrack their post. The song is about Taylor falling in love with Travis, and feeling like their love is that fun, bubbly high school romance that sweeps you entirely off your feet.

Plus, he is "the boy on the football team."

And then, of course, there's the caption: "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married🧨."

We feel like it's safe to assume this is a direct reference to the lyric: "You know how to ball, I know Aristotle."

And the dynamite emoji? That's their own special way of referencing their nickname TNT (Taylor and Travis) — Swift does have it on a diamond bracelet after all.

Donna's happy hint.

Mother knows best, or so they say. And in this case, it looks like Donna Kelce may have hinted at the major news recently.

Asked by People what was making her son "so happy" right now on Sunday, she didn't hesitate to share her, now incredibly obvious, reason why.

"I think his mind is settled. That's about all I can tell you," she said on the red carpet at ESPN's special screening of The Kingdom.

"I think he feels calm and he feels like he's on a mission and he knows exactly what he wants."

People also asked Kelce's dad Ed Kelce the same question and his answer was simple: "Taylor. There's no question about it."

Her ring's 'from the vault' connection.

We know the ring is reportedly from Artifex Fine Jewelery. Well, the brand just so happens to have its own "from the vault" collection.

Travis and Taylor's dating history.

Taylor and Travis first sparked dating rumours in July 2023, when Kelce attended her concert and put her on blast in his podcast.

He had planned to slip in and meet the starlet — knowing the Arrowhead Stadium staff at his home-NFL field — but it didn't go to plan.

"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," Travis said.

"So I was a little butt-hurt I didn't get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her."

He said he wanted to put his phone number on it. And though his plan was foiled, Taylor's attention was piqued.

"This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell," Swift told TIME.

"We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."

They went public in September, when Swift attended one of Kelce's Chief's games alongside his mum, Donna Kelce.

"By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple," she confirmed. "I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."
